I often enjoy slow begginigs but only if the story becomes interesting after a while. If not, I read a while and if I get bored I stop reading and never recommend that book to anyone :) hehe

The begining of a story should be intense enough to captivate the reader. If you lose someone's interest from the start, it's really hard to earn it back. Of course it also depends on how "slow" you mean.
