Xena: Warrior Princess

Hi guys, I was a shabiki of this onyesha and I'll tell why Xena is my favourite onyesha when it was broadcast in Malaysia many years ago.

The Story is Unusual

Unlike many ndoto TV series, the story-line is very unusual and it is no wonder that the series gained popularity for its brilliant writing. It was a spin-off from the Hercules series, from which I didn't know at that time.

The Characters

One thing about the characters, especially Xena and Gabriel's relationship is very complex. Some alisema they are friends, others alisema that they are Lesbians. It doesn't really make much of a difference to me! But...

It was all understandable. The decision was made not to bastardize the truthful nature of the best-selling book based on the Oakland A's accomplishing so much on a flimsy budget.

The problem was simple: The truth wasn't good enough.

And that's unfortunately what turns this film into a double, instead of a nyumbani run. As everyone involved freely admits, there's just no natural Hollywood ending.

Billy Beane's bean-counting ways don't lead the Oakland A's to a World Series title in any year. Heck, it doesn't even lead them to a World Series.

What results is a movie that satisfies, but doesn't leave...
