When Tyler got sired, it was explained that it happened because Tyler was grateful about not being forced to turn which was painful, so it was like Klaus 'saved' him and he owed Klaus, hence why he had to go into the moutains and turn until it didnt bother him anymore. I've read several things, though I don't remember where, that they don't have a sire bond, they have a blood bond, which will be different.
