dimitri_ picked Elsa:
I think both of them are complete messes for most of the movie, but that's why they are respectfull 4th and 5th on my list :3 Okay, that sounded bad, but their struggles, though not admirable, are relatable and make them more interesting to me. I like Poca more because her struggles are more specific than Elsa's.

Though Elsa has herself more well put IMO.

Are you kidding? Elsa is a complete emotional wreck through most of her movie!

I don't think Pocahontas is a "mess" so much as she's at a crossroads. At the start of the film she's transitioning from childhood into adulthood, and her father wants her to settle down while she wants to keep seeking adventure. However, even as she does she knows she needs to choose her path, but just isn't sure how to find it. However, she has the emotional maturity to ask for guidance from her elders, like when she starts to ask her father about her dream, then when she seeks Grandmother Willow. Finally, falling in love and dealing with the Native/settler conflict forces her to grow up and accept responsibility over personal desires.

Elsa? I'm sorry, but she's completely incapable of functioning like an adult through most of her film. She's completely dependent on her parents most of her life, is unable to function without them after they die, cannot come out of her room or take off the gloves without revealing her powers because she can't control her own emotions, refuses to ask for help or even accept it even when it's offered, like from Anna, etc. She's locked in a completely self-defeating cycle of feeling scared, so she locks herself up, which causes her fear to grow, which causes her to lock herself up even harder, which causes her powers to grow, over and over until her powers reach critical mass and blow up.

Her "Let It Go" song LOOKS empowering on the surface, but it has an insidious undertone of self-isolation and problem-avoidance. She sings about being free, but she says "Turn away and slam the door!" and slams a literal door in front of the audience at the end of the song. She's not really embracing freedom, she's creating a new prison to hide herself in and a new pair of doors to shut people out in. She unravels her bun as she sings "Let It Go!" to symbolize her newfound freedom... but notice her hair is still braided, showing an even deeper level of emotional self-confinement. Indeed, AS SOON AS she learns her powers are still hurting people anyway, what little semblance of composure she has completely crumbles and she's back to being the mess she was before she locked herself away in the mountains.

I'm sorry, but I think Pocahontas has herself WAY MORE put together than Elsa.

Elsa runs away from her problems at every point in the movie and the only time she tries to deal with them is when she is literally cornered into it by people who want to want to kill her. And even then she doesn't resolve anything and has to be literally dragged unconscious back to the castle. At no point does she ever think for herself in some way that is not avoidance. Except for at the end of the movie when she is somehow able to unfreeze her entire kingdom through love despite never actually showing that she loves herself (people would use the Let It Go sequence to show that she loves herself, but I don't accept that considering she looses all that 'confidence' once confronted with her troubles.

Pocahontas on the other hand, while she does go through some struggles, in the end every choice that she makes is her choice. All that indecision throughout the movie shows how incredibly put together she is because she is weighing the cost of her every action. She has seen the trouble that interacting with John Smith will cause and even knows that she is responsible for Kocoum's death. These are real people's lives on the line and I would be angry if she DIDN'T take time that she does to make her decisions. Even more, she shows how 'put together' she is by listening to other people's advice, notably Grandmother Williow's. However when it comes down to it, when she finally makes her decision, it is her own. She 'listens to her OWN heart' and more importantly faces her problem instead of running away from it. In fact, she literally runs to face it.

Elsa is a mess in a dress. Pocahontas just has troubles deciding what to do. Elsa has ANXIETY and EMOTIONAL ISSUES. they're on two different spectrums of the mess scale.

By a long shot. She didn't run away over a small argument and freeze and entire kingdom. Also she doesn't have as much anxiety.

I'm going to be kind to Elsa and say that her cowardice is all due to the HORRIBLE CHILD ABUSE AND ISOLATION she suffered at the hands of her parents ( who did this, at the advice of some loony-a$$ trolls).
The girl has emotional baggage, and it shows.

Pocahontas definitely has more self-confidence. She is just puzzled and unsure of how to treat the newcomers, and their completely opposing viewpoint about the natural world.

Neither, they're tied as the most boring Disney Princess ever

Pocahontas's personality is Posing

And Elsa's is Plot Device

I can't tell if they're put together if they don't have a personality to have

Tygers_Eye picked Pocahontas:
iwasneverhere: I would hesitate to say her cowardice is "all due" to her upbringing, because we all have agency over our own choices. Our upbringings influence who we are, how we feel, and how we emotionally respond to situations, but we also have agency over our own choices and actions. (Think of how many abusers claim it's because they were abused as a child versus the ones who claim they were abused but chose not to do it.) I don't give Elsa a full pass because she chooses to let her fear control her, rather than standing up to it or trying to make it work for her.

Pikageon, the question isn't which one is more interesting, it's which one is more put together.
