She could have turned to dust in doors but nooo, They had to use that clicé. It is definetly one of the most painful Disney Villian Deaths, with turning to dust (I mean, DUST, how much would that KILL) but, the 'defeat part wasn't that impressive'. The fact that Eugene would give up his life for Rapunzel's freedom, totally amazing. It shows how much he loves her and how he isn't just a charming ruddged theif, that he actually has a brain and emotions (for some of you who say that he doesn't :/). But, cutting hair. That is the defeat, NOT IMPRESSIVE. I can cut hair, and I'm not a hero (or a heroine for that matter).
