I wrote a hero essay on John Lennon last year. I had a hell of a time trying to skip past the parts where he did drugs and cheated on both his wives :P. My teacher was very disapproving.

No, I grew up with the Beatles and read, sang along and collected everything I could. I was and still am a major Beatle fan. Essays and term papers were never my forte. Even though I didn't approve of his lifestyle, I felt he was an excellent songwriter and singer.

I wrote an essay on Sgt. Pepper for uni not that long zamani (I'm a first mwaka muziki student at uni). Actually I only started listening to The Beatles after I wrote the essay. I knew they existed beforehand and I sort of knew some of their songs, but I didn't know them very well. So Sgt. Pepper was my first Beatles album really and I liked it so much that I ended up listening to all their albums.
