That’s right: EW has confirmed that Jeffrey Dean Morgan has been cast as comic-book villain Negan. Morgan is expected to appear toward the end of the current season and then return for season 7 as a possible series regular.

Morgan is currently playing a complicated investigator named Jason Crouse on the CBS hit 
, but that role is not expected to get in the way of his new gig on 
, EW has learned. It’s likely Morgan only signed a one-year deal with
, which recruited Morgan to fill the investigator role when Archie Panjabi (who played Kalinda Sharma) left last season. But there’s also a good chance that he’ll get to do both dramas. Stay tuned.
