Advice Swali

I need some help on something important.

I don't want to start a huge argument au anything but I really need some advice. My mom is extremely religious and believes that if you're not Catholic, you're wrong. I, don't consider myself religious, I don't believe in God. I think that would be considered Athiest. My mom found out accidentally when I was answering a swali for my English class online that asked "Who is most important in your life?" and I didn't answer God. My mom is being awfully cold and forces me to go to church now. Is there any way for her to accept that I don't believe in God and stop forcing me to go to church when I don't want to?

Any advise would be helpful, please and thank you!

I don't think it's a matter of what wewe BELIEVE. It's what wewe KNOW. If wewe KNOW there's a God, au if wewe don't KNOW there's a God. I take it wewe believe in evolution. My mum's a Jehovah Witness but I'm not, we just don't talk about it. Just tell your mum that wewe don't believe there is a God and if she can't accept that than she can go wandering in her own little world of make-believe.

Well, I for one am a Christian, but I do respect your belief. [Don't worry, I'm not gonna try to convert wewe au anything like that.] Talk to your parents on how wewe feel about this. They'll come to understand. And if they persist, wewe might as well give it a try. Still don't believe it? Once again, talk it out with your parents. If wewe feel strong about it, they ought to respect that.

well i have the same problem, i just say wewe can make me go to church and all that but wewe can't force me to belive in him. i my self belive we need physical proof to belive in anything. and if wewe scoold me say it to my face and don't get all religious and stuff, i hate that, and i won't do the same.

Nobody should try to force wewe to believe in something wewe don't really believe in. wewe should be free to believe in whatever wewe want to believe. If your mother cannot accept that, I feel sorry for her. But wewe should talk to her about it. She may just be in shock that wewe don't believe what she always thought wewe believed in, and she may just need a little while to accept it. But definitely talk to her. Don't yell at her au anything. Talk calmly. Even if she gets worked up, keep your cool. As I said, she may just need some time to accept the fact. Good luck with it.

i also agree with this but sometimes wewe need to act out and raise your voice and stand up to your mom and tell it to her straight.

Well, I am Christian but I respect and even embrace people who arent. For example, my opinion of wewe didnt change even after I realized wewe didn't believe in God. Just remember your Mom loves you, and if she truly wants to be "Godly", she will accept wewe for who wewe are. If she cant, then just try not to bring it up around her. I hope things work out for you.

It's quite unlike the true Christian to scold someone that harshly for not believing in God, let alone Catholicism. Yes sweets, I am a Christian, but I don't believe you're a wretched person for not believing God exists. That's your own opinion. I can't and won't judge wewe for it. She's your mother, so it's common cortesy to respect her wishes. She's blinded, and wewe must accept that. She sees wewe as damned for your beliefs. Yes, I believe you'll end up in hell when you've died if wewe still believe the way wewe do, but I have witnessed amazing changes in the lives of people who call themselves atheists. If she's annoying you, tell her. If she refuses to respond, don't let her push wewe around but be careful before wewe come off as too rude. I'm sure she still loves wewe and thinks she's doing the best for you. wewe simply need to edge her into the direction in which you're thinking. And to add something in...if you're an atheist because wewe don't believe in faith, the scientific paradigms of our generation collapse simply because one insignificant detail laid waste to many. Don't believe me? Look up a ripoti from a non-biased reporter, if that's possible (not a scientist. A reporter. Scientist can easily become biased from their shallow belief in science alone.) So, dear, if wewe think atheism isn't a religion, you're wrong. It takes FAITH to believe science is correct, and even zaidi faith to believe in a paradigm that falls eventually with new knowledge. Religion is a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe. Your belief lies in the strength of man's science. Mine lies within the strength of a mighty and affectionate God, who watches the world suffer itself to death through humanity's obstinance, pride, and self-exaltation.
