Phantom: This three episode OAV is not to be confused with the twenty-six episode Requiem for the Phantom, which features the same characters—it just takes a bit zaidi time telling the story. In the OAV, an innocent young man from Japan flies to Los Angeles, hoping to get back to his family soon, but instead he is captured kwa a mysterious mob and his memories are wiped. His name is changed to Zwei, he is ordered to become an assassin, and he trains under Ein, a girl so good at the art of killing that she has earned the code name Phantom. Ein and Zwei’s feelings toward each other grow tender, but in their violent world, can upendo thrive?
This disc has no ratings, but I would definitely place it as MA. There is so much blood, most of it resulting from straight shots to the middle of people’s foreheads. It is too bloody for my tastes, and I was disappointed in the ending, so I won’t be getting this for my personal collection. I got curious about the twenty-six episode version, though. (See below.)

Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom: 26 episode series based on the same chanzo as the above Phantom. Starts out the same, with a Japanese kid being kidnapped and ordered to become an assassin, but goes through so many sea changes it’s like a few series packed into one.
Oh, and apparently we’re to assume that Ein and Zwei’s bond is zaidi like siblings than lovers. Just a warning.
This version of the tale features less blood spray, but is still mature with much profanity, and doomed characters who know they’re going to Hell.
