I believe very strongly that abortion is wrong. Taking a human life, no matter how small it is, is wrong. If the parents aren't able to support a baby au if it was an "accident" and they don't want it, they should give it up for adoption, not kill it! Pregnancy is not a disease...it's a GIFT, and it should be treated as such.

And if it's a case where the girl was raped au if she's young and scared and doesn't want to tell anyone, there are thousands of Crisis Pregnancy Centers all over the country where she can find baby supplies, counseling and kind people who can help her through her pregnancy (and find a good place to give up the baby for adoption, if she can't take care of it). There's no need to fix a mistake with a bigger mistake au put any zaidi guilt on her shoulders.

I think the only instance where abortion is justified is if the pregnancy could kill the mother au endanger her health. It's better to save one life than to lose two.

I was an unborn baby once. I'm glad my mom "chose" to let me live.

As for the coma thing; sorry that I'm getting so dark here. But I've always been a pull the plug kind of person. If quality of life is diminishing and odds of recovery are slim I believe that pulling the plug is the right thing to do unless the person stated not to. I'd want the plug pulled if my odds were impossible. Because again, it's not black and white. The difference between a kubadilishwa, unaweza kurudiwa tena coma taking away cognitive function and a fetus is that the fetus never developed a counsciousness in the first place. A coma patient did and will probably get it back when they wake up. A coma patient was fully developed and even in the coma is still fully developed. wewe don't lose your morals when wewe go to sleep. In other words it isn't about functioning; it's about the personality and the fact that the person has truly been alive. Yes a fetus is a live but it hasn't lived. Yes a fetus is alive but it can't think complexly and feel the full dismay that an unwilling mother would.

Dearheart, not eveyone thinks that way. Not everyone will carry a guilt with them. Some might but others might not. We each have our own minds and they all work in different ways. There are some people who will want a choice. And they should have that choice. It is our right to have the choice to do what we want with our bodies. The government making this illegal is unconstitutional.

October 5 Today my life began. My parents do not know it yet. I am as small as the seed of an apple, but it is I already. And I am to be a girl. I shall have blonde hair and azure eyes. Just about everything is settled though. Even the fact that I shall upendo flowers.

October 19 I have grown a little, but I am still too small to do anything kwa myself. My mother does just about everything for me. And what is odd - she still doesn't know that she is carrying me under her heart, and that she is helping me already, that she is even feeding me with her own blood. She is so good.

They say that I am not a real person yet, that only my mother exists. But I am a real person, just as a small crumb of mkate is truly bread. She is so good.

October 23 My mouth is just beginning to open now. Just think, in a mwaka au so I shall be laughing, and later talking. I know that my first word will be - mummy!

October 25 My moyo began to beat today all kwa itself. From now on it shall gently beat for the rest of my life, without ever stopping to rest. And after many years it will tire. It will stop, and I shall die.

November 2 I am growing a bit every day. My arms and legs are beginning to take shape. But I have to wait a long time yet before those little legs raise me to my mother's reaching arms, before those little arms will be able to gather flowers and hug my daddy.

November 12 Tiny fingers are beginning to form on my hands. Funny how small they are. I shall be able to stroke my mummy's hair with them. And I shall take her hair to my mouth and she will probably say, 'oh, nasty!'.

November 20 It wasn't until today that doctor told mum that I am living here under her heart. Oh, how happy she must be! Are wewe happy, mummy?

November 25 My mummy and daddy are probably thinking about a name for me. But they don't even know that I am a little girl. They are probably saying Andy. But I want to be called Cathy. I am getting so big already.

December 10 My hair is growing. It is smooth and bright and shiny. I wonder what kind of hair mummy has?

December 13 I am just about able to see. It is dark around me. When mummy brings me into the world, it will be full of sunshine and flowers. I have never seen a flower, wewe know. But what I want zaidi than anything to see is my mum. How do wewe look mum? I upendo wewe so much.

December 24 I wonder if mum hears the whispering beat of my living heart? Some children come into the world a little sick. And then the delicate hands of the doctor perform miracles to bring them back to health. But my moyo is strong and healthy. It beats so evenly; tup-tup, tup-tup, tup-tup. You'll have a healthy little daughter, mummy.

December 28 Today my mummy killed me!

wewe might believe abortion is wrong (which is actually the swali here, not "Should abortion be illegal" but I digress), personal beliefs based on religion should not affect law. Hence the reason for separation of Church and State. Also, the "growing baby" could also turn out to turn to a life of drugs and alcohol, au even be a boy and turn into a gangbanger. If a woman isn't ready to raise a child, she should have the option to abort it.

El_Citrus said:
Abortion isn't wrong, in my opinion. It's a progress of science that enables us to A: Help control the population. B: Help the already overpopulated Adoption system. And C: Help the economy.

Now, the main arguements against it are:

It's murder: I'll ask this. Is it better to not bring a child into a world when the parents aren't ready to have a child, au to try and raise it when they're not fully prepared, thus not giving it the best chance of a loving family in life, increasing its chances of becoming a gang member au something. If the father leaves when finding out the woman is pregnant, why can't she get an abortion knowing that this isn't how she wants to raise a child.

You're killing a potential President au the inayofuata Martin Luther King: au the inayofuata Hitler au the inayofuata Manson.

It's just an innocent baby that has no say: It's a collection of cells that is incapable of living without the mother's support, thus, that collection of cells belongs to her and it's her choice to do with it what she feels is best.

It's alive: So is Ecoli.

Put it up for adoption: In an already broken adoption system where thousands of children go unadopted and grow up unloved, au end up bouncing around from nyumbani to home, transforming them into an unloved human being who knows nothing but hate and unwantedness. Those who are put up for adoption SOMETIMES get lucky and find a loving home.

Become a surrogate for another family and give them the baby: Again, same thing as adoption. wewe have to be lucky to find a family that wewe think will upendo that child if wewe know wewe can't raise it properly.

If wewe didn't want to get pregnant, don't have sex: Because teaching kids abstinence has worked out so well over the centuries. We are animals, with hormones just like other creatures, and when we discover them, we give in to our natural urge to mate (Hence why sex is pleasurable). Some people are zaidi strong willed than others, some just want to enjoy all of life's pleasures. Yes, it is irresponsible of those teens au whoever to use unprotected sex, but even trying to be responsible about it, mistakes and accidents do happen, even with birth control.

It would become a form of birth control for slutty girls: Apparently some people haven't encountered a woman who's chosen to get an abortion. It's one of the toughest decisions of their lives, and not just a back up plan in case she gets knocked up.

It's against my religion/I believe it's wrong: That I have no arguement against because, well, it's your opinion, but abortion shouldn't be illegal because of it.

I believe that abortion, in numerous cases, is the wrong choice. To me, you're taking the life of someone who had just as much rights to live in this world as wewe and I. Does it really matter if the "embryo" is "too small", "doesn't have a brain", "doesn't have thought" etc. It's a human being! The life of a baby who is to be aborted is no different then the life of a baby that someone wants to keep.

Now, if the mother was in serious danger (and I mean SERIOUS danger) due to her pregnancy, au if the child had severe deformities that completely prevented him/her from surviving outside the womb.....as much as abortion would be a sad choice, it would have to be acceptable for me.

But in cases outside that, I am completely against abortion.

These are my strong opinions.

Its not that babies fault. Why would wewe want to kill some thing so defenceless. Just because the babies father is a horible person does not mean the child is. And if wewe arn't ready so one else could be. Adoption is the best answer to that.

And Sex brings Children thats why sex is here. to repopulate. If wewe don't want a baby. Don't have sex. au get your tubes tighted. Thats the best way I can say that.

I think abortion is very wrong. It's murder and there are so many other options out there for the parents. They can give it to their family, give it up for adoption au try and make the best of the situation. As a baby born out of wedlock to a mother who was still in High School and a father who was in the military, I think God every siku that my parents tried for me.

Abortion is teaching teens that they don't have to shoulder any responsibility for their actions. "Oh, I got drunk and had sex with some bila mpangilio guy and am now pregnant. It's ok though, I'll just go and have it ripped to pieced inside me when it's old enough (any time between eight weeks and forty weeks old) and sucked out a tube and be back to my partyin' ways bright and early tomorrow." Don't believe some abortions happen that way? Read here: link
And that's not even the worst way. Salt poisoning? Really?

There's also the side effects of abortion that the mothers often suffer: infections, scarring (which can lead to infertility, ironically), internal bleeding, even death link. Well, that's certainly a great alternative to giving birth to a baby.

Also, did any of wewe know that a baby (or fetus au whatever wewe want to call it) can feel pain at eight weeks old? link
That means that they can feel how they are dying. They can feel being ripped into peices, poisoned kwa salt, crushed kwa violent contractions, suffocating, having it's head cut open, and drowning.

Anyone want to "explain" to me how this is a "good" alternative to a woman being smart and owning up to her actions?

The answer to this question, for me, depends on the situation.

If a girl was not being responsible, kwa using protection, I don't think she should get an abortion. It's her fault, she should of known the consequences. If she doesn't want the baby after she has it, then she should put it up for adoption.

However, if it was consequence of rape au incest, I think abortion should be a choice. It's her body, she is the one going through it. She didn't ask for this to happen to her, she should be able to get an abortion. Especially in the case of incest, the baby will most likely have health problems.

Overall, I'm pro-choice. Being pro-choice does NOT mean pro-abortion. I myself would never even consider abortion, but those in tough time au situations should have the choice.

Yes, It's wrong. Firstly, It's not just a tissue . It has 46 human chromosomes. It's complete, meaning nothing else well be added to it, just growth and development. Since life begins at conception, abortion is akin to murder as it is the act of taking human life. Abortion is in direct defiance of the commonly accepted idea of the sanctity of human life . No civilized society permits one human to intentionally harm au take the life of another human without punishment, and abortion is no different. .. Adoption is a viable alternative to abortion and accomplishes the same result. And with 1.5 million American families wanting to adopt a child, there is no such thing as an unwanted child. An abortion can result in medical complications later in life; the risk of ectopic pregnancies doubles(link), and the chance of a miscarriage and pelvic inflammatory (link)disease also increases. In the instance of rape and incest, proper medical care can ensure that a woman will not get pregnant. Abortion punishes the unborn child who committed no crime; instead, it is the perpetrator who should be punished. Also, killing the child cannot be an answer ,just because the mother was raped and thinks she is being forced to take this choice. If there's a possibility of abuse, then adoption is an option. Abortion should not be used as another form of contraception. For women who demand complete control of their body, control should include preventing the risk of unwanted pregnancy through the responsible use of contraception or, if that is not possible, through abstinence. Many Americans who pay taxes are opposed to abortion, therefore it's morally wrong to use tax dollars to fund abortion. Those who choose abortions are often minors au young women with insufficient life experience to understand fully what they are doing. Many have life long regrets afterwards. Abortion frequently causes intense psychological pain and stress. link
