"It's about to be a girl fight!"
"It's about to be a girl fight!"
First of all I want to make it clear that I think both are amazing characters and I upendo them to death. I'm going to keep an open mind about both of them when comparing them. They both have things that they did better than the other. So who's the better character? We'll just have to see.

What they have in common
I think it's fair to first mention what they have in common. They're both redheads, adventurous, curious, wild, whiny, selfish, have parent issues, rebellious, brave, heroic, free-spirited, make deals with witches, and of course cause a big mess with all their mistakes. Let's also not forget that they're usually considered bad role models and are criticized a lot.

What's different about them
Well Ariel's thing is that she falls for a good looking guy and tries her hardest to be with him no matter what. However Merida is actually trying her hardest to avoid getting married. That's definitely a HUGE difference between characters. Now it's time to get to the really fun part of comparing the characters, telling who did what better.

Reasons for rebelling
Merida's rebellion is mostly to avoid getting married but it's shown that she's been rebellious even before that. She doesn't like being a princess and hates all those duties and lessons she has. Ariel on the other hand, though not as obvious, doesn't care much for being a princess either. However her main reason for rebellion is for the injustice her father and all sea creatures have against humans. What gets me about this character is that she fights against injustice just like Pocahontas and Esmeralda but unlike them she's actually rebelling to defend not only a different culture but a completely different species that she knows nothing about. Sure she's aware some are bad but she sees them like with fish, some are good and some are bad. Merida's reasons for rebelling against having to get married are good and strong too, especially when she takes action during the archery contest, but for me Ariel's are stronger.

Being whiny and explaining
Ariel's reasons for being whiny is that she wants to become human because she doesn't fit in and is fascinated kwa the human world. She even has a song where she's whining about what she wants. Merida whines about how she just doesn't want to be a princess au get married. They both also fight with their parents while being a bit whiny, well at least Ariel is. Merida is way too over the juu kwa saying her mom was never there for her, that this is so unfair, and she'd rather die than be like her mother. Yeah.... that's a... way over the top. Plus it seems with Merida all she does is just whine but doesn't try to explain to her mother why it's unfair and why she's not ready to get married, she just whines and acts all bratty when she could just explain. Ariel was also whiny and at times is her own little drama queen. However she does at least try to explain to her father, he just won't let her explain. So for this I'd say Ariel wins this round.

Heroics
Both princesses are quite brave and heroic first of all. Ever since Brave was first being shown in commercials, trailer, and posters they've been advertising Merida as a total kicka** character who saves the siku and can take care of herself, that's sadly not the case. She has come bada** moments, like when she does archery and when she saves her mother but that's pretty much it. For the rest of the time she usually has to be saved and is in distress where she can't handle herself. Such as when she first meets Mordu and her mom needs to save her, when Mordu comes after her and her mom saves her again, she gets locked in a room and her little brothers have to save her, and during the climax her mother has to save her again. I wouldn't exactly call her weak au a complete damsel in distress but from what they advertised I thought she'd be the inayofuata Mulan and Kim Possible.

Ariel on the other hand always gets herself into trouble and can always save both herself and her friends. This was explained in the beginning of the movie when Ariel and kweta are chased kwa a papa and she keeps on slowing it down. Plus how she managed to trap it in that... well whatever that thing was, proves she can save herself. Plus she's the first princess who actually saved her prince not once but twice, plus she killed the evil minions, not the actual villain but considered the heroines that came before her that was impressive. However she too does need saving sometimes. She needed her father to save her when the sunsets and during the climax kwa Eric. But ujumla, jumla Ariel wins this too.

Saving the day
Neither one of these girls saves the siku but I believe they both had the potential to do it. Both caused the mess and many believed that they should be the ones who had to fix it all. Merida's mother saved the siku and I think that's the main reason Disney and fairy-tales usually kill off the mothers. They're trying to teach kids to be able to take care of themselves and stand on their own without their mothers. Besides this was the first Pixar protagonist and they needed to leave an impression on us and having Merida save the way would've been a great way to do that. Ariel also doesn't save the siku but she kind of had zaidi of a reason. Eric had to do something au no one would've even remembered him so Ariel's reason kind of is better. Although wewe could've argued that they should've had both defeat Ursula. However ujumla, jumla Ariel wins.

Deals with their witch
Ariel's reasons for going to Ursula was to get a potion to turn herself into a human so she could live her dream and also be with Eric. Merida's reasons for making a deal with the witch was to change her mom. Merida didn't know what she was getting herself into and just kept on being all like "Are wewe sure this will work?" unlike Ariel who was quite skeptical. Ariel thought about the consequences and decided to take a chance. With Ariel it was zaidi bravery and with Merida it was nativity. Plus Ariel's reasons are better. It was a big mistake for both of them though.

Redemption
I believe both of them realize all the trouble they've caused but in different ways. Ariel at first says "Daddy I'm sorry, I didn't mean to, I didn't know, I..." but wewe can argue that could have just been the typical teenage girl getting caught. However wewe can see Ariel really feels horrible after her father takes her place kwa the expressions and the way she says "Daddy...". Also during the chaos when Ursula takes over it's kind of unrealistic that she wouldn't learn something au realize what she's done. However I guess her redemption was zaidi in expression than in words. Merida however, even though several times she says it's not her fault, later admits it's all her fault. So for this round Merida wins.

Relationship with parents
Both have a really touching relationship with their parents. Merida and Elinor is very unique because for once it's the mother and daughter, though they kind of go over the juu with it. With Ariel and Triton it's not the main focus of the story but is still very touching at the same time. With the parent relationship less is zaidi and I enjoy all the touching moments with them. Merida and Elinor have some good scenes, like the scene where they're getting fish. But I didn't find it sad when it seemed like Elinor wouldn't change back, but I blame that mostly on how predictable, bland, and undeveloped the movie is. Plus their relationship seems a bit forced, while Ariel and Triton's is zaidi natural and subtle. Plus the "I upendo wewe daddy" line is a moment that none of the Merida and Elinor moments can compete with. Plus Ariel and Triton actually had an impact on the life of a solider who was shipped out and had a strained relationship with his daughter. After he saw The Little Mermaid he called his daughter and they worked out their issues. This happened not too long after the movie came out and nothing like this has happened with Brave that they'd actually write a letter to Disney about it. So that definitely wins Ariel and Triton some MEGA points so Ariel wins this round.

OVERALL WINNER: Ariel
Ariel: Don't mess with the master Merida!
Ariel: Don't mess with the master Merida!
Today I'll be thinking of who'd come out champion in a fight of the Disney Princesses, first I'll be thinking of their advantages and disadvantages. Also I'm ignoring the obvious, their kingdoms.

Snow White:
A: Has All The Forest wanyama and the Seven Dwarves in her will, won't be fighting, she'd just be saying the commands for them, she does have her ways of getting people to do what she wants. She's very organized too
D: She is easily sabatoged and gullible. And forest wanyama aren't the strongest of animals. Besides she has no magic kwa her side

Cinderella:
A: It isn't easy to make her pissed...

 It's just an Easter Egg.Nothing more,nothing less.
It's just an Easter Egg.Nothing more,nothing less.
I know that after people have noticed that little Easter egg in Frozen since it was released, many have developed the same theory. However,I do not agree with it and will give an explanation as to why. The theory with which I do not agree has to do with that brief moment in the film. Yes,by now, I think every major Frozen shabiki knows about and has seen the quick cameos of Rapunzel (with her short, brown hair) and Eugene (or Flynn,if Tangled mashabiki still want to call him that) when Anna passes kwa them during "For the First Time in Forever." From seeing these two Disney Princesses together in the same...

My orodha hasn't changed all that much but I thought after rewatching Aladin I would write an updated list.

13. Merida- Not a fan, I'm all for female empowerment but I don't like her attitude. She is just so rude & I do not find her likeable.

12. Elsa- She just really bugs me. I can't think of any other reasons but she just aggravates me.

11. Anna- Not keen on her either. She is not as bad as the other two but I'm not a fan, moving on.

10. Tiana- She is too much of a workaholic. I get that she has dreams to run her own restaurant but she can have fun once in awhile.

9. Jasmine- jimmy, hunitumia has really...

Thought this was really the perfect time for this light read considering which months I think each DP represents the best. :D I did this based on personality and my perception of how those personalities relate to the 4 seasons as well as each month. I hope wewe guys enjoy! My apologies to non-Americans as this is heavily based on my American connotations with these months especially in regards to American holidays. Hope wewe guys don't mind!

November: Tiana
Thanksgiving has always been my absolute inayopendelewa #1 holiday! I upendo it because it brings people together over a great meal, just like James'...

Here's my orodha of Disney Princess couples, it's primarily based on what connected with me in their relationship and what i find admirable. I do have some ifs and buts with few couples but that's just my way of looking at how a relationship grow

1. Mulan and Shang:
Theirs a relation that I actually look up to with great admiration and respect. They both were mature to handle a relationship before falling for each other. Their upendo grew out of mutual trust, understanding and respect rather than romantic feelings. It is to not say that romantic feelings are not true au valuable, it's my personal...

Because I am still in a musical mood but also ready for the "autumn/Halloween" mood, I'd like to incorporate the two! There aren't many DP villain songs ujumla, jumla but I came up with at least 9 that were good enough to use for the sake of this countdown. I rated each of the songs against how villainous the lyrics were, how villainous the muziki sounds, how villainous the scene that accompanies the song in the film is and how villainous is the goal of the villain (or just the villain itself) imba the song? I ranked each song in the 4 categories and then ranked them ujumla, jumla kwa accumulative "evil"...

Okay so I tried to seek others' opinions for this who connect with Merida zaidi than I do. I realized that there are makala on here for the ranking of every princess except for Merida and I didn't think there should be any reason for her to be excluded. I always found these makala to be so neat though so I hope the Merida-fans will appreciate this. I'm completely open to any changes with zaidi input.

12. Aurora: General consensus seems to be that Merida would get along with Aurora the absolute least, most likely for their opposite in characters. Aurora rates duty, grace/manners, love/romance...

5. Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs

I noticed that sadness seems to be the most maarufu emotion among people and it’s understandable, no matter how strong wewe are, nothing hits wewe harder than life. True wewe should try your best to get out of a bad situation but in the process, it’s good to make the best out of it. It’s important to be grateful and remember how blessed wewe are, a positive attitude goes a long way in order to enjoy your life.

4. Brave

What I really like with Brave is that it’s easy to relate to because disagreements and miscommunication...

1. The iconic song “Part of Your World,” was almost cut from The Little Mermaid.
2. “Can wewe Feel the upendo Tonight” was also almost cut from The Lion King. Elton John, who saw the film with the song removed, told producers they needed to put it back in.
3. Aladdin’s face was modeled after Tom Cruise’s.
4. And Ariel was partially modeled after Alyssa Milano.
5. The Jungle Book was the last animated film Walt Disney personally supervised; it was released 10 months after his death.
6. John Lennon turned down Walt Disney Studios’ request for the Beatles to provide the voices of the vultures...

Ah, feminism and Disney Princess. Such a complicated relationship. Now I'm not an expert, especially being a guy but the topic of feminism in relation to the DPs has always intrigued me. I'm gonna try my hand at ranking the princesses in terms of agency, independence, heroism and other aspects to figure out which one of them is the most feminist. I'm trying to expand my uandishi skills so this is gonna be mgawanyiko, baidisha into three parts, starting with the bottom four.

WARNING: No Anna and Elsa in this countdown, so let's begin.

11. Aurora
Sorry guys, but I'm one of those people who believes that feminism...

Yesterday I wrote an makala about my inayopendelewa song from each DP Movie, today I'm doing an makala about my inayopendelewa song scene from each DP Movie, the only requirement for this was that the song in the scene has to mainly be sung kwa a character from the movie (this rule doesn't apply to Brave), also the song scene can of course have two songs in the scene

Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs - With A Smile And A Song

This movie has many great song scenes, it was actually a bit hard to pick a favorite, but this one is currently my favorite, first of all it has one my inayopendelewa songs from the...

Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs - Someday My Prince Will Come

This is my inayopendelewa DP Song, it's such a beautiful song despite it's short length, many of the lyrics are lovely and Snow White's voice is so beautiful. This song always makes me emotional everytime I listen...
