I will try to defend Snow White and the Apple.

I hope to onyesha that she was an over-trusting but well-intentioned good-Samaritan who got taken advantage of. The former characteristic is primarily because she is a young teenager who has lived a sheltered and limiting life with little if any socialization. The latter is because she is not very cynical nor suspecting and thus she is zaidi easily manipulated kwa bad people.

These things don’t make her necessarily stupid, but probably naive and underestimating of evil. All understandable since this is an innocent 14 mwaka old girl who is good to the core.

All alone, my pet?
>>Why— Why, yes, I am, but—
The… little men are not here?
>>No, they’re not, but—
Mm-hmm. Makin’ pies?
>>Yes, gooseberry pie.

From Snow White’s perspective, she doesn’t know anything about the Queen’s transformation nor the poisoned apple (unlike the audience). Snow White could have suspected that this was the Queen in disguise since she had already hired a huntsman to kill her, Grumpy had explained how she “knows everything [and] full of black magic,” and Doc alisema “The old Queen’s a sly one. Full of witchcraft. So beware of strangers.”… However this was all naively dismissed kwa Snow initially because she believed that “she’ll never find me here.”

All this in mind, the only way Snow would suspect that this “harmless old peddler woman” (=who, admittingly, does look creepy to us) is the Queen is for her to judge on appearances - something which her caring and optimistic personality wouldn’t allow for. In a way, despite our audience assumptions, what the Queen alisema about the disguise was true: “a disguise so complete no one will ever suspect.”

Of course Snow White gives out way too much information probably because she’s nervous, honest, and was becoming zaidi open when there was a mutual interest in pies.

It’s apple pies that make the menfolks’ mouths water. Pies made from apples like these.
>>Oh, they do look delicious.
Yes! But wait ‘til wewe taste one, dearie. Like to try one? Hmm? Go on. Go on, have a bite.

Snow White was making (gooseberry) pie for Grumpy. When informed about apple pies, considering her motherly nature, she might have taken some only because she would want to make something for someone else

Ah! Ah!
>>Stop it, stop it. Go away, go away. Shame on you, frightening a poor old lady.
Oh, I thought I Lost it.

Snow sees an old woman being attacked kwa her animal Marafiki (=mostly birds) and it causes her to drop her apples. Thus, Snow runs out of the house to make her animal Marafiki stop. She probably feels not only worried and afraid for the old woman but also embarrassed and confused for her animal friends. She didn’t know why they were uigizaji this way; she didn’t see the vultures.

>>There, there. I’m sorry.
Oh! My heart! Oh, my— My poor heart.

Now this old woman who has just been attacked kwa small wanyama complains about her heart. It may not be an exaggeration to Snow to think this as a life-or-death situation. And she cannot just use her cellphone to call 911 for an ambulance. Understandably, Snow White is a good Samaritan. She didn’t see the secret scheming.

Take me into the house and let me rest. A drink of water, please.

Yes, she did exactly what she was warned not to do kwa Grumpy; perhaps she could brought out a chair and cup of water for her. However, this was all rather quick and, knowing that Snow is so kind, her instant reaction would probably be to help someone kwa providing whatever they request (if reasonable). Thus she takes her inside, out of the sun and heat and away from the animals. Snow does not see the hidden motive of the apple.

And because you’ve been so good to poor old Granny. I’ll share a secret with you. This is no ordinary apple. It’s a magic wishing apple.
>>A wishing apple?
Yes! One bite and all your dreams will come true.
>>Really?
Yes, girlie! Now, make a wish and take a bite.

In return for her help, Snow accepts what she believes to be a “Magic Wishing” apple - is this stupid? To answer, let’s look at the beliefs in the movie:
--Snow: wishing well (which worked, btw); communicates with animals; overactive imagination (from the forest scene)
--Dwarfs: believed a ghost, goblin, demon, au dragon was in their house; hurting corns could predict trouble; there was poisonous witches brew cooking; a monster was asleep in their beds; females full of poisonous wicked wiles
--Queen: magic mirror; witchcraft that transforms her and apple
--Multiple characters: true upendo is seemingly upheld kwa all visible characters; except no support for the huntsman. (Interestingly, even the Queen denied Snow being revived kwa “Love’s First Kiss” because she would have been buried alive - not because it, in itself, didn’t exist)

Doesn’t seem out of place to me. And as such, in a fairy tale with an actual “Sleeping Death” apple, it’s understandable to believe in possible “Magic Wishing” apple.

In accepting any kind of apple, quite a few reasons:
--they are healthy (=at least wewe wouldn’t expect to “die” from one)
--it’s a thanks for helping her out and Snow might not want to upset her kwa refusing.
--it’s a gift from an elder and Snow would want to be polite
--she’s peddling and the apple(s) do look good, so why not take one to try out before making some apple pies?

Yes, Snow shouldn’t have accepted chakula from strangers - but again, she’s just a young girl. (Not to mention this is centuries before “stranger danger”)

There must be something your little moyo desires. Perhaps there’s someone wewe love.
>>Well, there is someone.
I thought so. I thought so. Old Granny knows a young girl’s heart. Now, take the apple, dearie, and make a wish.
>>I wish— I wish—
That’s it. Go on. Go on.
>>…and that he will carry me away to his castle… where we will live happily ever after.
Fine! Fine! Now, take a bite. Don’t let the wish grow cold!
>>Oh! I feel strange….

A defense for her wish should be simple enough: for Snow, she wants to live happily ever after with her true upendo after having lived as a scullery maid and now living in fear of a murderous Queen ; in-universe, true upendo is upheld kwa virtually all characters; for the viewer, fairy-tale logic allows for true love. Basically, as the old woman said, “One bite and all your dreams will come”… why not?

and then we all knows what happened when she woke up? Seems like it worked out pretty well! :D

10.Someday My Prince Will Come
Coming in last place, Snow White's song "Someday My Prince Will Come". (I know we're not used to Snow White coming in last place, so try to contain your shock.) It's a quick but sweet song about her wanting her prince and her to be reunited. It's really a lovely song but people complained it was a bit too short.

So don't be offended if wewe find your inayopendelewa Princess low on my list. I like her...just the others a little more.

So…some of y’all might remember that when I first jiunge Fanpop, I did a Best DP Mother countdown. And now I have finally got around to making the article. Enjoy…

10---Mulan
Poor Mulan…I totally disagree on her placement in this countdown, but this is all of the DP Club’s opinion. I thought that Mulan would be a great mom, as the kids in the sekunde movie adored her, but other mashabiki bring up a good point. Since Mulan is a solider, she would be away from nyumbani a lot. And since Shang’s in the army too, there wouldn’t be anyone to be with the kids. Mulan’s also pretty dedicated to the...

I started this countdown when it was Couples Month, but I had a lot of personal stuff going on, so it took me a while to get back on track and finish it.
Whether it's a kiss at a wedding, a kiss that brings about a wondrous transformation, au if it's a kiss for a dead person, we all voted and the results are in!
