Well, I don't think I can say much about the subject because I don't know how racial diversity was on Norway/Scandinavia in these times. I don't think Disney should insert historically innacurate POC in their movies, because that would break the mood of the movie for some people. Even if they aren't always 100% historically accurate, most people don't notice this because they don't really know much about History. But it is a well-known fact that in most of Europe there weren't POC in these times. If, say, Oaken was black, people would think "Oh, it's just an imaginary fairytale land, it's not like it's happening in the real world, but with magic". It's a bit hard to explain what I'm trying to say.

CRaZy_rawR I agree with Dylan. I don't think every Disney movie [i]has[/i] to have PoC. I didn't see anyone complaining about Brave or Tangled that there weren't PoCs. Same with WIR.

There is a problem with lack of PoC and it irritates me to see all of these people saying they don't have a problem with it. What people don't seem to realize is that, Norway still had some PoC whilst China did not. Frozen didn't have to take place in Norway they could have made it like PaTF. I don't think people understand. Aladdin should have had some Asians in it. Frozen should have had some Pocs in it. Pocahontas could have featured Mexicans too. It's not just with Frozen. It is something to complain about seeing as 50% of the Disney princesses are white and 72% of Disney's movie are Caucasian based. I don't think people will ever UNDERSTAND. There are tons of girls that feel there should be a princess that looks like them. While race is not important in liking characters it's what makes them relatable, there is a REASON people want PoC but people seem to gloss that over. Here is a prime example of why PoC is important: Minorities feel LEFT OUT. I wish I could scream this at some of you thick-headed people. It's not just Frozen it's the racism in The jungle book, and the stereotypes in Aladdin. Frozen could have at least SOME PoC back ground characters, but they didn't. Aladdin could have had Asians. All in all, I'm tired with trying to be nice all the time, you people don't seem to understand, and you probably never will. It isn't a matter of "That's the majority of people in Norway" when that is exactly the problem! That is the majority of Norway you are right, but that means there is also a minority, THAT THEY ARE IGNORING. Minorities are left out. Diversity never hurt anybody, and frankly I want more diversity. This really almost makes me cry... People don't complain about Raounzel having PoC because like China, there was NO diversity. Same with Scotland. The only reason people are complaining about Frozen is because there is some chance of having PoC to which Disney completely ignored. PoC are being ignored.

MaidofOrleans  I completely agree with Annabethandco and BelleRose829. Lack of diversity is a problem. Disney is ignoring a large portion of the world's population, and that's just wrong. By including main characters who are PoC it would help promote acceptance and understanding. Despite what others say, Disney needs more diversity.

AudreyFreak *sigh* I've argued about this so much on tumblr. I'm tired of it. But since people don't seem to know much about the Nordic countries (remember that word- Nordic- it's kind of important) and goodness knows I'm no expert, but let me try to sum it up, because I didn't see any explaining how a Nordic fairy tale with Nordic characters doesn't make sense. The only thing that doesn't is getting mad that we don't have a fat Hispanic lesbian princess (or whatever- kidding here) in old Europe. Even now, it would look odd. So: 1. Norway and all of Europe are indigenous to WHITE PEOPLE. A tiny handful of nonwhites are not the majority. This is as logical as saying because a few whites in ancient China MIGHT have been there (perhaps trading), it was racist to not represent them in Mulan. South Africa is a mostly white country, so should African films show more white actors? Besides, it's kind of common sense- people watching Frozen with a black lead will be confused and go, "Why is the princess in a Scandinavian country black?" seriously, check out the Sami. It's Brother Bear and it has a sequel too. I really don't mean to sound rude but your "personal view" doesn't really matter, because the fact is the Sami are white. 4. And regarding Disney: it's an American company. In America the majority of viewers are white. Disney of course will make whatever appeals to their demographic the most. It's like demanding Japan stop making movies featuring Japanese people. It's rude, for one thing, to demand people cater to what you want, and for another it's unfair to the people who actually are native there. 5. this whole fit people are throwing is so racist. Nobody would force black directors to add nonblack characters. Nobody forces Asian TV show creators to add non-Asian ones. Why can't a Nordic country have a single movie about themselves? If we made Tyler Perry put a blonde lead in there people would pitch a fit but it's OK when it's the other way around. It's not a crime to have an all white cast in a white country. The only people who have any real right to take offense over this movie for any reason regarding representation are the Nordics themselves and the Sami... and they, apparently, all liked it. (A generalization, but I have heard good reviews from them.) It is hypocritical and Disney shouldn't apologize for Frozen being realistic. I am so sick of politically correct obsessed people (namely SJWs, not necessarily you the author) trying to force diversity on everyone. Nothing wrong with in theory, but FORCING anything is never good, and it's illogical to do it in a country with one major race. When you guys start demanding white, black, and Native American people get represented in Bollywood, or the Japanese film industry or whatever, then and only then do you have any room to demand Caucasian countries do the same. But hopefully you won't because it just doesn't make sense and honestly I find it pretty racist to act like there is something wrong with a country showing their own people, whatever country, and especially that there's something offensive about white people to begin with. If people want more nonwhite characters, that is FINE. It's great, really! But don't demand people put in in a place where it wouldn't make sense to do it- like an Italian character in Korea, or a Meztizo character in France. Yes, SOME might live there NOW, but as I keep saying, the majority aren't. Why would you make an entire movie about SOME of the people living there? In America that might make more sense, but not 19th century Europe. If you want characters that look like you, don't complain about Disney doing it logically- make your own movies. Don't sit around waiting for others to do it for you. tl;dr political correctness and putting a nonwhite lead in a movie taking place in a white country doesn't make sense. It's not realistic. I agree having an African princess or a Japanese one would be cool, but people need to remember it takes awhile to make a single movie. AudreyFreak About the gay princess, the whole point is that they sexually prefer other girls. if it's just love, well, that's how Anna saved Elsa and Elsa saved Arendelle ;) but it doesn't matter because Elsa's romantic or sexual preferences aren't important to the story either way, it's about her accepting herself. April- I know, but the majority is still white (as SJWs on tumblr love to point out). They realize not all are so they make non-white characters too. there's also the fact I forgot to mention that the majority of fairy tales they base movies on are European, so they keep the heroines European. they even change the races sometimes (Tiana, Jasmine, Esmeralda, the Muses, Cuzco, etc. I bet most people don't know Jasmine was originally Chinese!) or add races where it wouldn't be realistic for that setting anyway (a lot of the characters from Atlantis). They do the European ones because those are the ones people are largely familiar with. Most people haven't heard of, say, The Milk Bird, an African story. aggrosaxon I think the idea of enforced diversity onto a story like Frozen, set in pre-Multicult Norway is pure Cultural Marxism and cultural genocide - of white people. BillieR92 You’re right. There were plenty of people with different hair colors and eye colors. AND not all blonde hair people had or have blue eyes either! One of the reasons I was actually pleasantly surprised and happy that Kristoff is drawn as having blonde hair and brown eyes. MANY of us blondes do not have light eyes at all. Also, most Sami people nowadays are a good mix of all colors, including white with blonde hair. Not all Sami people are as dark anymore.
