Disney Princess Article: My Opinion on Emma Watson Playing Belle

I may be a little late for this but here we go...

So I have this opinion that I don't know whether au not it's popular, but I know at one point it wasn't. Everyone is just like "oh, she's going to be horrible as Belle!" But I strongly disagree, and here is why.

People say she looks nothing like Belle, so I'm just sitting here like soooo....? She looks no less the the same as Emilie de Ravin does, and she makes a great Belle on Once Upon a Time! I get it, when people see the live action versions of these movies, they want to see the characters similar in both personality wise and ubunifu wise, but they really don't look that different.

However there are reasons why I'm excited for this, especially after seeing the trailers for the movie.

For one, I find many similarities between Belle and Hermione Granger from Harry Potter, another character played kwa Emma Watson. Seeing Emma being cast as Belle made me super excited, because I upendo Hermione, and I loved the way Emma Wateon played her. I mean, obviously there are differences between Hermione and Belle, but the point is seeing her play someone so similar to Belle makes me confident that she will do a good job with his role.

It may also be my personal bias, but this is also one of my inayopendelewa actresses, playing a princess that is in my juu five, so that brings a lot of excitement.

Plus her imba voice is so stunning, and although I thought original imba voice of Belle was okay, Emma's voice sure takes the cake for this! It's so clear and once again, Disney has surprised me with another actress being able to sing.

So yeah, I really don't have any issues with Emma Watson as Belle, and am really excited to watch it!

RoseRapunzel I absolutely agree! I don't like that some people think she's terrible as Belle or they just see Hermione instead of Belle. I have no problem with her, in fact, I'm excited to see the great job she's surely done.

Sparklefairy375 I agree with you. Emma is a great choice for the role of Belle. I don't understand why peoples having trouble about her as Belle. They need to move on from Hermione :P Anyway, I completely agree that Emma, Belle, and Hermione are quite similar :) good-looking and smart girls :D

Mongoose09 I agree with this article, I understand why she wouldn't be everyone's taste but I think she's a perfect choice, especially since she's so passionate about the role, clearly loves the character and isn't just playing the part for the paycheck or to look good. Sure, my opinion might change when I actually watch the movie but regardless I can understand why she was picked. People say she's a bad actress and while she might not be Oscar-worthy or anything she REALLY improved over the course of the HP movies; she was brilliant in the last couple of movies IMO. I also don't get the "doesn't look like her" comments... caucasian?? check. beautiful?? check. slim?? check. brunette?? check. Even if she didn't look like her it doesn't really matter anyway, of course this movie is supposed to be similar to the animated version, but it's not supposed to be an exact replica.

deedragongirl I whole-heartedly agree, I hate it when movie stars tend to be typecast in a certain role.

quishy11 Very nice article! I don't agree because I strongly feel that Emma's and Belle's vibes are at the opposite end of the spectrum. Good actresses can create a personality fine, but the vibes do not always work. And that's the most important thing for me to get into the movie. I can still enjoy it but I won't get nearly as into it. And I like Paige's voice better, to throw my opinion out there lol.

lililc ok,i saw the trailer, she wouldn't be my first option but she seems decent. Until now the only thing i don't like about Belle in the new movie is the dress , everything else looks pretty good

hatelarxene I love this article! Emma Watson is the perfect Belle. The only thing I would disagree with you on is that the original Belle's voice is just "okay" while Emma's voice is "stunning" (though it is good). No way is Emma Watson a better singer than Paige O'Hara. No way. I honestly don't get the criticisms that she looks "nothing like Belle". Lily James didn't look like Cinderella, either, and Elle Fanning DEFINITELY looked nothing like Aurora whatsoever (and honestly, those two looked even less like their animated counterparts than Emma does to Belle). I'd rather have someone who doesn't look like the character but can actually ACT (such as James, Fanning, or especially Watson, who's also one of my favorite actresses) rather than someone who looks more the part yet CANNOT act to save lives (*cough* Emmy Rossum *cough*. Seriously, I don't know why so many people want Rossum as Belle).

Mongoose09 ^ agree, for sure. Emma definitely looks more like Belle than those two did as their characters (I love Lily James as Cinderella, don't get me wrong).

12. Brave

I hate this movie. I haven't seen it in 3 years and I don't want to see it again. I think Disney as dimitri put it, was trying to hard to please radical feminists that hate Disney princesses. Merida is so rude bratty and obnoxious I just want to ngumi, punch her in the face. Moving on.

11. Frozen

Another Disney movie I can't stand. Like with Brave, I think Disney was trying to hard to be progressive. The characters are extremely annoying and the soundtrack...

13. Merida

I really can't stand Merida. I haven't been Brave in 3 years but I don't want to see it again. I think she is rude, bratty, & obnoxious. Moving on.

12. Elsa

I'm not an Elsa fan. I don't find her very likeable. She just irritates me. I don't really know what else to say.

11. Anna

I like her better than Else no doubt but she doesn't do much for me. I hated the line she when she alisema she is gassy....
