Pocahontas is one of those Disney films that, despite being middle-of-the-road for me, I have to rewatch fairly often. Something about this movie intrigues me. Maybe it's because I want to like the movie zaidi than I currently do and understand why some mashabiki revere it. I might not be there quite yet after this most hivi karibuni rewatch, but I'm narrowing in on what specific things I like and dislike about the film. Now's the time to share those thoughts.

Praises
1) The backgrounds in this movie aren't just beautiful. THEY'RE GORGEOUS. The subtle lines, the designs, and especially the rich colors are just wonderful to look at!

2) The main title scene, "Steady as the Beating Drum" -- I wouldn't change a thing about it. I think it makes a great introduction to the rest of the movie, and the segue from the last scene is nice, too.

3) John Smith is my inayopendelewa character of the movie. I don't know how realistic it is that someone who recently arrived at the New World would change his maoni rather quickly, becoming zaidi understanding and respectful of the natives so quickly like he does...but it doesn't bother me here. I find that I also really like the voice work done kwa Mel Gibson.

4) The "Listen with Your Heart" theme, complete with the piano, is gorgeous. For me, it's right up there with the The Little Mermaid main titles theme and Beauty and the Beast's prologue music.

5) I like Nakoma a lot zaidi than Pocahontas. Pocahontas isn't a bad character, but Nakoma feels much zaidi real to me (I guess ironically) because her uhuishaji and voice work are zaidi expressive.

6) This is the first time I noticed certain uses of the "If I Never Knew You" instrumental theme prior to the climax. It feels awesome. It's kind of a shame that the song isn't in the movie, isn't it?

7) The idea of having both sides (the natives and the settlers) think that the other is made up of "savages" is interesting and demonstrated very well throughout the movie. I don't know if this is the first time it was done, but I haven't seen it done much elsewhere. Kudos.

8) The song "Savages" and its reprise are kind of awesome. Again, you're talking pretty top-notch uhuishaji and colors that leap off the screen. Combined with the actual muziki and vocals, it's almost haunting.

On a related yet semi-random note, the uhuishaji and shadowing of John and Chief Powhatan is perfect during these scenes.

9) Sometimes, Pocahontas looks weird. Most of the time, she looks beautiful. And sometimes, she looks like a goddess:

Is she not just stunning here?!
Is she not just stunning here?!

Critiques
1) The comic relief characters don't add enough to the movie to justify having the movie slow down for them. For example, the early scene where Pocahontas finds out her father's back has Meeko and Flit diving off a cliff. That bit's not too funny and just drags the scene out.

2) "Mine, Mine, Mine"...actually isn't too bad of a song. However, I think the movie would be better off without it. Once I got to the "Colors of the Wind" scene, I thought to myself, "Didn't we just have a musical number?"

3) Major Issue #1: Pocahontas learning English almost right away. I could forgive all the tiny things that annoyed me in this movie up to this point, but THIS I cannot accept. Can we at least get a little of Pocahontas trying to learn the language?

4) Pocahontas' speaking work is stiff. She sounds kind of monotone throughout the whole movie. Thank grop for animation.

5) Pocahontas and John seem to get...awfully close earlier on in the movie, when they're not an item yet. I don't even think they're really supposed to have strong romantic feelings for each other yet. These brief moments always bothered me; they just feel weird.

Anyone else get a little off-put kwa these?
Anyone else get a little off-put kwa these?

6) Major Issue #2: WHY ARE POCAHONTAS AND JOHN A COUPLE?! I could totally see them becoming lifelong friends, but they just do not seem like a solid romantic pair to me. Seeing them kiss is weird.

7) I didn't mind the Governor much this time. He's kind of amusing, and he's got a great voice actor, Davis Stiers. However, I don't think he should be the villain.

The way I see it, he isn't a villain until the point when he decides to shoot Chief Powhatan towards the end. Up until then, he's the settlers' leader, their spokesman, etc. That's fine. After the chief shows peace, I don't expect Ratcliffe to be 100% happy about the situation, especially about not finding gold, but him trying to shoot the guy doesn't resolve anything. It pegs him as the film's one bad guy and has contrived consequences (Smithy can't stay). Instead, maybe have the guy be uchungu, chungu about not achieving what he set out to do, and perhaps contemplate his view of the natives -- are they his Marafiki au his foes? That way, the message of looking past prejudice and accepting others for their differences doesn't lose focus, and Ratcliffe doesn't become an almost literal throwaway character:

This is also...
Major Issue #3: Ratcliffe as the villain. See above.

Conclusion
Based on my "praises" orodha above, it seems that I like the art of this film the most. The uandishi is the chanzo of most of my critiques. I think that matches up with most opinions on this film that I see, too -- beautiful uhuishaji and music, but the story is a mixed bag. The former is really what makes this movie worth an occasional re-watch.

Thank wewe for taking the time to read through my thoughts on the film! I'd upendo to hear any thoughts wewe may have on the film, as well, so feel free to share! I shall end off with my inayopendelewa quote of the film:

"From this siku forward, if there is to be zaidi killing, it will not start with me." -- Chief Powhatan

I've seen these makala around and I got the urge to do one myself. They seem so fun! And of course I'll give wewe the viungo so wewe can enjoy the muziki and maybe even get down with your funky self. ANYWAY before I get too crazy let's hit the music!

Snow White - Love Story kwa Taylor Swift

One song, I have but one song, one song that is perfect for Snow White. Not to diss my beloved Snow White, but I usually associate her with the classic upendo story, imba about a prince and how he'll carry her away and though her motives aren't always because of her prince ideal I feel that she always...

1 = Ariel

Ariel's my prettiest. I know a lot of people would be totally against this opinion, because her hair doesn't look "natural," au her body's "too thin;" but I absolutely upendo the way she looks. Her hair is thick and flows nicely, which I upendo A LOT, her eyes are a beautiful blue, and her skin seems to be a nice light tan/pale color. To me, she's absolutely beautiful.

Many people would call her "plain" and "just cute," but I find that she's really a beautiful person, and her looks add a lot on. I really do like her hair, long au not,...

i have to say it always bother me the fact than he didn't went to find her himself , it would had been easer for the duke as he knows how the girl looks.
i also sometimes doubt that he would pick her if he had seen her in her maid costume.
My biggest problem is that cinderella have a lot of positive attributes , she is kind,persistent,...

Bonjour!

So there are lots of beautiful women in Disney - however only the Princesses seem to be recognised for it. Today I've decided to acknowledge some of the other Disney Heroines who are stunning, but who rarely get the recognition. They deserve it!
(No particular order, btw).

Slew Foot Sue
Melody Time

I'm not sure if many of wewe have seen Melody Time - it's a little bit like Fantasia kwa putting muziki to stories. But there's a girl in the story of "Pecos Bill" (who happens to be Bill's upendo interest) who is actually quite pretty. Red hair; a colour that represents that of Ariel contrasts...

We can't seem to get enough of these three, who have recently become the most maarufu Disney Princesses!! So, why not bring them back in their own film? When a family crisis breaks out the two blonde cousins (which is revealed, as well as the fact that all blondes in the family have powers, thus Anna does not as she is a brunette) must head into action, leaving Anna behind to feel left out. However, as expected, they underestimated the situation and send a distress call. Anna does not believe she will be of any use, but checks it out anyway to see if she could get help for them elsewhere. But what she doesn't know is that she has a different power, one of upendo and determination. She must get them out without magic (or cliches!). It is not an easy task, and audiences will be on the edge of their seat!

My opinion has changed a lot. I've started to really adapt to the opinions in this club and I'm sort of happy and upset that some of my opinions have change so drastically. But any-who on with the list!

12. Frozen

I know I'm a terrible person that lives under a rock, I must hate mtoto wa mbwa and rainbows too. Well, no I quite enjoy puppies. I'm very particular about things and I can completely understand why people like it. My Marafiki adore it and all, but it doesn't make sense, there are major plot holes and being a perfectionist I simply can't ignore them. I'm not one for pop culture, I prefer...

I wanted an makala to do, and I decided to go with eyes. Anna and Elsa WILL be included. Anyways, I'm going to wrap, upangaji pamoja up the juu section early today. Please keep in mind that this is my opinion, and we may disagree, so respect my opinion and I'll respect yours. Enjoy the article! :)

13. Snow White

I feel sorry for putting Snow White at the bottom, I really do, she doesn't get enough attention, and she's starting to go up on my vipendwa list, so I want her to be higher, but.. I just don't like her eyes. I don't think they look awful, but I don't think her eyes are anything special, I don't...

I meant to get this up earlier but it's a bit too late. Anyways, wewe might have already read part one, and if wewe haven't, wewe should definitely look at it because it's just as awesome as this article. Anyways, (I swear I use anyways zaidi than any other words in these articles.) it's time to do the last 6 Disney Princess Movies! I was messing around and being stupid and never did Aladin in Part 1, so it will be included as well as the films Mulan through Frozen. Keep in mind this is my opinion so respect it and I'll respect yours. Enjoy the article!

So, I'm going to be ranking about how I feel the uhuishaji is in the Disney Princess movies, I'll be ranking them worst to best, but I will be SEPERATING the computer animated films from the hand drawn ones. I'm going to start with the computer animated ones first because there's less of them and the real countdown is the hand-drawn ones.

Anyways, as I usually say, this is my opinion, so please respect it and I'll respect yours, because it's likely that we'll disagree.

Enjoy the article! :)

So let's start it off:

The Films That Are Computer Animated

Ok, so I'm only going to orodha my juu 10 not all of the movies, so sorry about that. Anyways, please keep in mind that this is my opinion, and we might disagree on a lot of things, anyways, enjoy the article! :)

10. Brave

I do like this movie, but it felt kind of unoriginal. It had elements that other sinema had and didn't have a "wow that was great!" factor to it. The villain is my least inayopendelewa of all the Disney Princess villains, and one of the worst Disney villains as well. How could Mordu possibly be a main antagonist? Sure, his Tory had importance, but did he? Not really. However,...

So,I saw how many people made makala about Disney Princesses redesign look,so I decide to write one :)
I want to state that this is just MY opinion,I'm not trying to hurt anybody :)
Also, forgive me for few mistakes,English isn't my native language.

11.Pocahontas
Details are sometimes a good thing, but not in this case.
They made too much details and they ruined her mothers' necklace!
I mean, look at the boots and feather earring!
That's actually a bad thing, becuse Pocahontas is an historical figure.
I hate how much make up they put on her.
Did they even have make up there where she lived?
I don't think...

kk, so almost all the redesigns are blehhh, but I felt like talking about them, so yeh. btw, I didn't include Merida bc she wasn't redesigned when everyone else was originally redesigned, and no Anna au Elsa for obvi reasons.

10. Rapunzel

Okay, so I upendo Rapunzel's beauty in her film, and that's one of the main reasons I am so harsh on her redesign.. It's freaking terrible like.. x__x Her eyes are all trippy, not to mention her face shape. NO ONE'S MOUTH IS THAT LONG, LET ALONE RAPUNZEL. As for the outfit, it definitely is waaay too sparklified, like most of the redesigns.

Finally we've gotten to the juu 10 most beautiful Disney heroines! Very surprising results, a mwaka au two zamani you'd think this would be rigged but the maoni don't lie. Overall, people found these women to be beautiful and for good reason. This makala will include the maoni like part 1 did, ironic that only the first and last part have the comments. Anyway, just like the others, I will talk about what fanpop thought and then what I think. Please maoni but keep in mind this is fanpop's opinion, not mine. Enjoy!
