MaidofOrleans picked Remake:
It pretty much fixed all of the problems with the original, namely the annoying mice.

I love both so it is hard for me to pick. I'll pick the remake just because I saw it last week while I saw the original Cinderella three weeks ago.

I prefer this one's charm. The remake was lovely to look at, but had less 'logic' story wise in my opinion

I like both equally. The same amount of effort went into both films, and they are on par with one another in my view.

i love how it has added much needed depth to characters without taking away the classic-ness of the story. I esp love Kit and his relationship with his father.

The remake was trying too hard to make more sense, and it backfired. I agree with Doug's review on this. Apparently in this world Cinderella could leave like one of her friend's suggested but she stays because the rest of her biological family is gonna and she's "loving it [the house] for them" and yet she moves out into the palace when she marries the prince??? The classic's better. Quaint, simple, and magical. Sure, if her relationship with the prince was more developed it wouldn't been way better but other factors like the music, the animation, and the concept (peasant ends up with rich prince) still made it swoon-worthy. I like the remake for Kit's scenes with his dad the most honestly. Or just Kit interacting with anyone besides Cinderella.

The old one so much more! I agree with hajirah4 and Nostalgia Critic. "The classic's better. Quaint, simple, and magical." <---- Definitely that. The new movie made more problems. It also didn't feel as warm and stuff to me. I like Ever After so much better than the new one too. I thought the new one was good though, I especially like the Lavender Blue Dilly Dilly song she sings. I love everything about the old one... especially Cinderella herself. I love the songs too much and I actually like the mice lol... the only scene I am kinda eh is when they have those pieces of cheese or whatever they were. I LOVE the mice and birds making the dress scene (which is important), and Jaq and Gus getting the necklace I like too, and the whole ending I like. I love the old movie so much and I thought the new one was pretty good.

^^ what they said. It was enjoyable but the one thing I disliked is how Ella actually had no real reason to stay. In the cartoon, obviously as a woman with no rights or help available to her as an abuse victim she can either stay where she has food and shelter and suffer through it or take her chances on the streets. Not much of a choice. Whereas Ella stays just because.... she grew up in that house?? She has friends who care about her in this one and the movie makes it clear it doesn't care a bit about historical accuracy so, so she has no reason to not leave in this one. What a terrible reason to make an abuse victim stay with the people mistreating them.

For a movie that tries so hard to "make sense" as people said, it just made a plot hole. or else is unintentionally telling victims of abuse that staying in your childhood home matters more than your own emotional or possibly physical well being.

Much less boring and no gratuitous mice scenes.

KataraLover picked Remake:
It got rid of all those boring, annoying, and pointless cat and mice scenes that were like cheap Tom and Jerry knockoffs (Except the mice talk, unfortunately). It also developed more important things that the original lacked like giving Lady Tremaine a deeper reason for hating Cinderella besides just her charm and beauty (As well as mad Lady Tremaine more complex and sympathetic), the step-sisters are allowed to be attractive and not be unattractive in order to make Cinderella look better, gave the prince a three-dimensional personality and an actual name (As well as a bigger role in the film), they developed the romance and chemistry between Cinderella and Kit, we see more of an interaction and genuine love between Kit and his father (Who didn't have a scene together in the original movie), and we get to see Cinderella's life before her parents died and that makes the loss of her parents and her suffering afterwards more emotional. It's far superior to the original, which is still a good movie. The original had too much filler, was unbalanced, didn't focus on things that needed more attention (Hell, as a kid I sometimes questioned if the real main characters were the mice, despite that the film was called CINDERELLA), and isn't as well-made. The remake has some flaws but it's definitely FAR superior!
