Clash Of The Penguins
The atmosphere suddenly seems to change, the wind drops as an uneasy feeling falls upon them. Everything becomes quiet, even the crackle and roar of the moto seems diminished as a few drops of rain begin to fall. Everyone feels it, that scary feeling, foreboding. Like a dark shadow, being cast without a clear source. The reason soon became clear…
Skipper’s eyes widen, he takes a step back as a figure appears in the flames, undeterred kwa the sheer heat of the inferno. Skipper shakes his head in horror as Mech-Skipper steps out of the flames, like a nightmare entering reality. The group let out a chorus of gasps upon seeing the robot still functional and in it’s state.
Most of the fake flesh and feathered cover that had disguised it has burned away. The robot strips the remaining pieces of burning cloth, revealing a shiny metallic surface underneath. It advances towards Skipper, the nyasi begins to smoke in it’s footsteps from the heat of the conductive metal. With only two metres between them, Mech-Skipper stops and scans his opponent. His eyes flash brighter with recognition, confirming his target. Skipper glances to the others for guidance as the robot raises it’s flipper and points directly towards him. Although not entirely sure of what’s going on, Skipper proceeds and copies his clone, pointing straight back. The robot lowers it’s flipper and assumes a fighting stance. The groups attention turns to Skipper as he too converts to a fighting stance. For that brief moment, everything seems to stop. Freeze on the one point with both of them locked in position, staring each other down, neither side willing to move. Rune gazes first at MS, then at Skipper. Then back at MS before speaking up. “CC?”
At that precise moment, the spell is broken and both of them rush at each other. Skipper yells as he rushes at the robot who is silent throughout. They finally meet, but neither one of them gets a hit as both block each others attack. Skipper spins out the way of a ngumi, punch and manages to jab MS in the side. Both opponents spring away from each other, assuming their stance once again. MS smirks as Skipper shakes his flipper painfully. They rush at each other again, Skipper attacks furiously but MS blocks every single attack thrown at him. The robot punches Skipper square in the sternum, sending him flying backwards along the wet mud of the church grounds and into a marble headstone, creating a web of cracks along the black marble. Skipper regains his balance as the robot approaches him. He growls angrily “I’m going to wipe that smug grin right off you’re beak!” He makes a ngumi, punch at the robot’s face but it is stopped as MS grabs his flipper, stopping it mid-point. Skipper seems shocked then yells in pain as MS begins to crush his flipper. Kowalski and Rico exchange glances and rush over to assist but are quickly taken down with a single swing. Skipper lowers to his knees as he frantically tries to free his flipper from the robot’s grip but to no effect. MS smiles, watching his opponent panic and struggle pitifully. Skipper’s eyes begin to water as pain surges through his right flipper, suddenly, he cries out as a loud crunch is heard. CC, Rune, Bandit and Private cover their ears in disgust upon hearing the sound, knowing what it entails. Rune begins to cry and turns to CC for comfort.
Skipper’s strength begins to fade as he makes one last attempt to get free. He flips his body just enough and manages to kick MS in the face, cracking the lens of his left eye but the robot reacts little in Skipper’s favour and instead, increases the pressure of his grip.
“STOP!” Bandit yells at the juu of her lungs, surprising everyone, even herself. Pulling away from CC and Private, she approaches MS fearlessly. “I order wewe to stand down!” Her face is stained with tears, yet shows little emotion. The robot pauses, scanning Bandit. To her amazement, it releases Skipper from it’s metal grip and steps back. Skipper rolls over onto his back, holding his flipper in agony as Kowalski begins work on a make-shift sling. The robot watches silently as Skipper is carted away back to the zoo. Private leads CC away with them.
“Are… Aren’t wewe coming B-Bandit?” Rune questions, glancing up at the robot in fear. Bandit crouches in front of Rune. “Go with them Rune, I’ll be ok here…” Rune steps back and scampers after the others, leaving Bandit alone with MS.
