My current House-related obession is the official soundtrack. While it doesn't include what many mashabiki would consider essential House songs (such as The Who's "Baba O'Reilly" and AC/DC's "Highway To Hell", just to name a couple), every track on the album is excellent and reminds us of our favourite episodes, scenes and characters. So I thought I would share with wewe a few lyrics from certain songs on the album that really capture the essence of all that is Dr. Gregory House.
*Lyrics in bold are ones that I think are particularly significant!
From 'Walter Reed'- Michael Penn
I count the cases piled up high
For the 1:15.
For platform and for passerby
It's the same routine.
I'm ranting while I'm raving,
There's nothing here worth saving.
Tell me now, what zaidi do wewe need?
Take me to Walter Reed tonight.
Baby I've Lost the will for fighting
Over everything.
Well there's a few things I gotta say
And make no mistake, I'm mad.
'Cause every good thing I've had
Abandoned me.
All I want to do is hide.
It's graduation day
And everything I learned inside
Didn't seem to pay.
I've had my fill of palm trees
And lighting up Grauman's Chinese.
Tell me now, what zaidi do wewe need?
Take me to Walter Reed tonight.
Baby I've Lost the will for fighting
Over everything
And there's a few things I gotta say.
Make no mistake, I'm mad.
'Cause every good thing I had
Abandoned me.
A sad and lonesome me.
I'm the walking wounded
And I'd say it to your face
But I can't find my place.
So tell me now, what zaidi do wewe need?
Take me to Walter Reed tonight.
Baby I've Lost the will for fighting
Over everything
And there's a few things I gotta say.
Make no mistake, I'm mad
'Cause every good thing I had
Abandoned me.
A sad and lonesome me.
A sad and lonesome me.
A sad and lonesome me.
This songs always reminds me of how House is in general. Sort of brooding and melancholy but in a way, kind of upbeat about his own misery.
From 'See The World'- Gomez
siku to day
Where do wewe want to be?
'Cos now you're trying to pick a fight
With everyone wewe need
You seem like a soldier
Who's Lost his composure
You're wounded and playing a waiting game
In no-man's land no-one's to blame
See the world
Find an old fashioned girl
And when all's been alisema and done
It's the things that are given, not won
Are the things that wewe earned
Empty handed, surrounded kwa a senseless scene
With nothing of significance
Besides a shadow of a dream
You sound like an old joke
You're worn out, a bit broken
Asking me time and time again
And the answer's still the same
See the world
Find an old fashioned girl
And when all's been alisema and done
It's the things that are given, not won
Are the things that wewe earned
You've got a chance to put things right
So how's it going to be?
Lay down your arms now
And put us beyond doubt
So reach out it's not too far away
Don't mess around now, don't delay
See the world...
This song reminds me of how people see House. People who care about him, like Cuddy, Wilson, Cameron and Stacey, see him as a tough but also fragile man and I think this song captures that!
From 'Are wewe Alright?'- Lucinda Williams
Are wewe alright?
All of a sudden wewe went away
Are wewe alright?
I hope wewe come back around someday.
Are wewe alright?
I haven't seen wewe in a real long time.
Are wewe alright?
Could wewe give me some kind of sign?
Are wewe alright?
I looked around me and wewe were gone.
Are wewe alright?
I feel like there must be something wrong.
Are wewe alright?
Cause it seems like wewe disappeared.
Are wewe alright?
Cause I've been feeling a little scared.
Are wewe alright?
Are wewe sleeping through the night?
Do wewe have someone to hold wewe tight?
Do wewe have someone to hang out with?
Do wewe have someone to hug & kiss you?
Hug & kiss you
Hug & kiss you
Are wewe alright?
Are wewe alright?
Is there something been bothering you?
Are wewe alright?
I wish you'd give me a little clue.
Are wewe alright?
Is there something wewe want to say?
Are wewe alright?
Just tell me that you're OK.
Are wewe alright?
Cause wewe took off without a word.
Are wewe alright?
wewe flew away like a little bird.
Are wewe alright?
Is there anything I can do?
Are wewe alright?
Cause I need to hear from you.
Are wewe alright?
Are wewe sleeping through the night?
Do wewe have someone to hold wewe tight?
Do wewe have someone to hang out with?
Do wewe have someone to hug & kiss you?
Hug & kiss you
Hug & kiss wewe
Are wewe alright?
Are wewe alright?
Are wewe alright?
This song makes me think of House's relationship with Wilson and Cuddy. They are constantly trying to help him out and make sure he is okay. But, like in the song, they repeat themselves ("Are wewe alright? Are wewe alright") But House often ignores them au does the opposite of what they say.
I also like the lyrics from 'Got To Be zaidi Careful' kwa Jon Cleary. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the full lyrics, but the song definately reminds me of the battles House has faced against both Vogler and Tritter. And, of course, the infamous 'You Can't Always Get Want' kwa The Rolling Stones/Band From TV.......
YOU CAN'T ALWAYS GET WHAT wewe WANT.
BUT IF wewe TRY SOMETIMES,
WELL,
wewe JUST MIGHT FIND...
wewe GET WHAT wewe NEED!
Oh yeah.
