I have been thinking a lot lately about the direction of House fandom. A number of creative decisions made on the onyesha in season six have not been well received kwa some sub-groups of mashabiki and these mashabiki have taken their frustrations out on people like David pwani and Greg Yaitanes, and even on the actors and actresses on the show.

I'll start kwa acknowledging that I am a freak who ships many ships on the show, so in that sense I do have a perspective that many people may not share. But I think that because I sit in so many camps, my perspective may shed some light on these issues.

The main issue that I want to address in this makala is that of spoilers. Due to the rise of Twitter and Greg Yaitanes open use of Twitter as a foramu to directly communicate with fans, onyesha information and spoilers have become vitally important to House MD mashabiki on the internet.

Lets face it: a lot of us want as much House in our siku as possible, so a House insider like Greg Yaitanes being so accessible is a dream come true. Unfortuately, it seems to be turning into a bit of a nightmare.

Greg Yaitanes has dangled a few Huddy carrots (and carrots for other ships as well) via Twitter, telling us which episodes to look out for in terms of Huddy developments. Firstly, I think we need to understand that just because Mr Yaitanes tells us that a certain episode will please Huddy mashabiki that he means that we will see graphic and extended House/Cuddy sex scenes and then they get married and have 48 children. I think Huddy mashabiki need to lower their expectations. I would suspect that he means that their will be revelations au developments au just a really clever scene. And it also doesn't mean that there won't be just as many obstacles as there are highlights of Huddy au for any other ship.

Secondly, the way I see it is that people like Greg Yaitanes and David pwani etc etc are under no obligation to tell us anything about what is coming up on the show, but they unfortunately find themselves living in the internet age when anyone can say anything online and remain anonymous, which opens the doors for "moles", as well as shabiki outrage and abuse. So one can imagine that producers and other people who work on the onyesha are under a lot of pressure to please mashabiki while still remaining true to their creative process. For example, imagine wewe are a producer on the onyesha and most of the maswali that wewe are asked are about House and Cuddy getting together. Firstly, being asked the same kinds of maswali siku in and siku out must be frustrating. Secondly, wewe will probably become acutely aware of the expectations of the show's fanbase. Now, I do think that the producers of a tv onyesha are obligated to listen to their mashabiki to a certain extent, as us mashabiki are vital to the success of a show. BUT producers cannot be lead entirely kwa their fans. If producers did everything that the mashabiki wanted, House would be in a romantic relationship with Cuddy AND Cameron AND Wilson AND Stacy AND heaps of other people and so the onyesha would go nowhere. At the end of the day, the producer/writers/directors/actors must be able to take the onyesha in the direction that they deem to be the best, and giving in to the whims of every group of mashabiki is not going to work. So I think there comes a point when mashabiki have to step back and say "Ok, I'm not a big shabiki of this decision for the direction of the show" and then say either "But I'm going to keep watching the onyesha and see how things work out" au "I'm not going to watch this onyesha anymore because it is deviating too much from my vision of the show".

I know that these issues are particularly hard to negotiate when wewe are emotionally invested in one ship in particular. But what I find irritating about Huddy mashabiki (in general! I'm talking about collective Huddy fandom) is this idea that Huddy mashabiki seem to believe that they have the right to be zaidi outraged than mashabiki of other ships that are experiencing troubles. What I think would annoy me most if I was a producer for the onyesha is that some Huddy mashabiki are not even giving the storyline a chance to develop. They have just jumped on this abusive bandwagon. As an aside, I want to stress that I am using Huddy as an example, but this discussion applies to the whole of House fandom.

I think the issues about producers and moles and spoilers were best put kwa Hugh Laurie himself when he talked about how much it hurt him that all these spoilers keep coming out without any consultation with the actors. And to learn that many spoilers are not leaked kwa people with the authority to leak them is pretty alarming. Why should the entire cast and crew of the onyesha work so hard to create unique and wonderful storylines and performances if half the information is going to be leaked to us before the episode anyway? They may as well just write out the entire course of the onyesha now and give it to us so as to save themselves the trouble of writing, producing and performing the episodes! Save them time and money!

I think we have to realise that spoilers are a PRIVILGE NOT A RIGHT. And I think what has happened is that we (House MD mashabiki as a group) have abused that privilege to the point where we believe it is our right to be aliyopewa spoilers, and that it is our right to JUDGE the onyesha and the people who make it based on those spoilers.

So I guess I want to suggest that we all just think about how we want to experience House fandom and think about how we react to and interpret spoilers and other information about the show. After all, we are all mashabiki of the onyesha and presumably we want to experience the onyesha and its fandom as positively as we can.
