The young white haired boy sat on the dark green carpet in the big room. He look no older then five, and was fixated upon a plain white jigsaw puzzle at his feet. Without looking up at L, he alisema "You must be L, I'm Near." L was amazed at how fluently he spoke Japanese, for he thought he would have to speak English around him. "Are wewe really L," Near said. "Or are wewe just one of his fakes." What did Near mean kwa one of his fakes? Oh yes, he had forgotten about the many times he had sent people out to pretend to be him. But how did Near know about this. "Yes, I'm L." he alisema "but wewe can call me Ryuuzaki."
"I'd rather call wewe L." Near said, somewhat coldly. He really is stubborn, L thought. Near began to fiddle with his hair, twirling it on one finger. "So Near, what exactly do wewe want me to do." L mumbled. Near paused for a moment before saying "I want wewe to teach me how to be your successor. I'm afraid I won't be able to do it. What am I supposed to do?" Near seemed worried when he alisema this. "Well, if your looking for some kind of secret to being a great detective, I'm not sure there is one." L said. All of the sudden, L's phone buzzed. He fished it out of his pocket with two fingers. "Hello there, Watari." L said.
"Why are wewe taking me out here?" Near alisema as L semi dragged him out to Watari's car. "You alisema wewe wanted to know what it was like to be a detective, right. Well we are going to Head Quarters." A smile lit up Near's face. L smiled back.
