It seems to me like Emma is not one of the zaidi maarufu characters on this show. People upendo her with her family, and there are always people who ship her with one person au another, but Emma herself doesn’t seem to get many people very excited. There was even a kura ya maoni somewhere recently where Regina won best villain, but Emma was voted worst character. (I can’t remember the exact details; feel free to remind me if wewe know what I am talking about.) I feel this is unfair, and I’d like to explain why.
First, I feel like Emma had one of the hardest jobs getting people to like her from the beginning. Most of the characters are versions of characters that we have all known and loved from our childhoods, so they have that going for them. Emma doesn’t. Also, while she was born in Fairytale Land, Emma grew up in our world. This makes her seem like one of the zaidi “normal” characters, which some people can interpret as boring. Let’s not forget, though, that she WAS born in fairytale land. She has a fairytale lineage. She also has powers, even if they are not very flashy. I mean, she broke the curse, gave Regina back her powers, and can, usually, tell when someone is lying.
I think another issue people may have with her is that she spent most of the first season refusing to believe what Henry was telling her about the stories being real. Honestly, though, that just makes sense. It is realistic. If a kid believes in fairytales wewe either try to set them straight, au humor them, but most adults don’t believe. It is true that she ignores evidence that the stories were true, but, again, that makes sense. In our world we look for the look for the practical answer. No matter how much it looks like magic, we say it can’t be magic because adults simply aren’t supposed to believe in magic.
Then there is the fact of what it means if she does believe in magic. Think about it from her perspective. For most of her life she has been alone. Then this kid comes along, and says that he is her son, that he lives in a town of fairytale characters who are cursed, and that it is up to her to save them all. That is a lot of pressure to put on anyone, especially someone who spent most of her life going through the motions, and only taking care of herself.
It took Henry’s life being at stake, but when it comes down to it, she faced that dragon. She got the potion that she thought she needed to save Henry, when she could have just gone back up that elevator (she does end up climbing it when Rumple traps her, remember). She also could have left town after Henry woke up. She could have alisema “I broke the curse, my job is done. I’m taking my kid and leaving.” Instead she stayed to help figure out how to get everybody home, and even helped save Regina’s life (again). So, yeah, Emma may not be the flashiest character, but she is definitely worth watching. She is the daughter of Snow and Charming, and has proven again and again that she is a hero.
I’ll end this with one thought. Why do wewe think it had to be Emma to break the curse? Why couldn’t it have been Alexandra (Cinderella’s daughter), au someone else who was the product of true love? Surely Rumple could have gotten hair from cinderella and her prince in order to make the potion. That would have been easier since they owed him a baby, and they surely would have aliyopewa him hair to keep that baby. Also, cinderella was still pregnant when the curse was cast, so she could have gone through the wardrobe with her baby, like Snow was going to do with Emma. Why couldn’t they do that? What is it about Emma that meant she had to be the savior?
