It's Complicated Chapter Fifty Nine
Jasper's POV
I sat in Lila's bedroom floor has she clung to me. She must have been scared to death.
"Class is fixing to start, Scotty alisema after he entered the room.
"Okay thank wewe for telling us," I said.
"Lila, we have to go to class soon," I alisema close to her ear so she could hear me clearly.
I heard her sniff and she let go of me. I watched as she got up and went to her bathroom. I sat on her kitanda and waited for her to come out. I wasn't sure when she would be out but I was going to wait on her.
"Hey mom, Jacob Black stopped kwa the school today and alisema the restraining order was up. Lila has been crying for the past 15 minutes. She does not seem her hurt. But I am going to talk to one of my Marafiki who was there with her when it happened." I alisema through a text message.
"Thank you! I will talk to your father about everything. Tell Lila if she needs me au anyone to text us," mom's message stated.
"Okay, upendo you," I sent back.
"Love ya," mom replied.
Lila quickly opened the bathroom door and stuck her head out. She frantically looked around and she also looked worried.
"What's wrong," I asked confused.
"The moto alarm is going off," she stated.
"No," I signed laughing, "your hearing aides are dying!"
"Oh," she signed with a frown on her face.
"Lila, what did wewe do with your batteries," I asked signing.
"I don't know," she signed as she shrugged her shoulders.
"You are going to need those batteries if wewe are going to want to hear," I signed.
"Awe man," she signed.
I watched as Lila went through all the drawers in her room.
"I can't find them," she signed disappointed.
"What about wewe backpack," I asked.
"Good idea," she signed.
"Okay, I have to go to class. Text me if wewe can't find them," I signed.
"Okay, bye," she signed.
I went down to class and met up with Scotty.
"Is everything okay with Lila, he asked.
"It's complicated but she will be okay," I signed.
"Was that an old boyfriend that upset her," Scotty asked curiously.
"No; his name is Jacob. It was her step brother. I don't know if I should be telling wewe this," I signed unsure, "Lila should be telling wewe herself."
"She won't tell me anything. I have been trying so hard to be her friend," Scotty signed.
"I'm sorry but I can't tell you. It is way to personal," I signed, "she will come around and will tell wewe when she wants to!"
"Okay," he signed disappointed.
"Don't worry," I signed.
I could tell he was disappointed that I would not tell him what was going on but I could not tell what happened to Lila. It just was not my place.
It was thankfully lunch time. Hopefully Lila was going to sit with me and my friends.
"Lila, did wewe find your batteries," I asked signing.
"I did and I put them in myself," she signed happily.
"Good job. Do wewe wanna sit with me and my friends," I asked hopeful.
"Umm, I don't know," she signed.
"Come on, they are really nice. Scotty really wants to to be your friend," I signed.
"Jasper," she signed, "I only need you!"
"No wewe do not," I signed, "it would not kill wewe to make some other Marafiki besides me!"
Lila turned around and started walking off. I grabbed her kwa the wrist and she let out a small scream. Lila yanked her wrist out of my hand and turned around.
"Sorry," I signed.
"It's fine. I have been so jumpy lately since I saw Jacob," Lila signed.
"Did he hurt you," I asked.
"No, it just bought memories. Almost everything came back," she signed, "it just stresses me out."
"Like dad alisema maybe wewe should get a MRI," I signed.
"No, I am done being at the doctor. I just wanted to be my normal self," she signed, "I want everything to be normal! Before my 16th birthday! When Jake loved me."
"I know but it's the past. This happened for a reason," I signed.
"I just don't see why. I can't even talk about this without crying," she signed as she was holding back tears.
"It's normal," I signed.
"Hey Lila, hujambo Jasper," Scotty signed, "everything okay?"
"I'll be fine," she signed.
"Anything I can do to help," he asked worried.
"No," Lila signed coldly.
"Lila, Scotty is trying to be your friend. So some appreciation," I demanded.
Lila walked away from both of us.
"I am going to tell wewe what happened to Lila because she is being so scared to trust anyone else," I signed.
"I don't want wewe to ruin your friendship with Lila," Scotty signed.
"She will get it over," I signed laughing, "she just can't talk about it without crying and she hates crying in front of people."
"Oh okay," he signed.
"This story is really long, so I will give wewe the short version. Lila came give wewe details if wewe want to know more. au if wewe two really talk about it. Anyways, Lila had a step brother, Jacob. He was here earlier this morning," I signed, "right after Lila's 16th birthday, Jacob made some Marafiki who absolutely hated her. Jacob and his closest friend ended up beating Lila several time. The last beating she got, ended up making her go deaf and almost killed her. Jacob's friend is still in jail and he got off easy some now."
"Dang," he signed shocked, "I cannot believe that."
"That is why she had a meltdown this morning and when I grabbed her wrist," I signed.
"That poor girl," he signed, "makes me want to try harder to be her and let her know that not all guys are crooks!"
"That's good! Lila knows that all guys aren't crooks but she has a hard time trusting people outside of my family," I signed.
"I can see why," he signed, "well, if wewe do not mind. I am going to go get my lunch and sit with Lila," he signed.
"That's good. Thank wewe Scotty," I signed.
"No problem; she seems like she would make a good friend," he signed.
"Trust me, she is a great friend," I signed.
"See ya," Scotty signed.
"Bye," I signed.
I went and sat down with my friends.
"I saw Lila this morning talking to some hearing guy," Dan signed.
"Yeah that was her step brother. Well, use to be," I signed.
"Use to be," he signed.
"Yeah, it's a long story," I signed.
"I've never seen him with wewe two before," Scotty signed.
"He isn't suppose to be near her at all," I stated.
"She looked really upset," he signed.
"Yeah, Lila was pretty upset," I signed, "but she is fine now!"
"Where did Scotty go," John signed.
"He went to go sit with Lila," I signed.
"Why did she not come sit with us," Dan asked signing.
"She didn't want to," I signed.
"Oh okay." John signed.
"She will come around," I signed.
"Whatever," Dan signed.
