OMGOMGOMGOPOMGPOMGPOMG...

[Probably not the best way to start out an makala with "POMG" but I don't care.]

So after like, three hours of research [dude, this took me forever] I have finally reached this conclusion...

“POMGPOMG I FIGURED OUT THE COVER”

Why? Thanks to my best friend Google and it’s buddy Wikipedia and the giant history textbooks in my basement. I upendo wewe GUYS SO FLIPPIN MUCH.

Anywho, I have uncovered the amazing truth...DUNDUNDUN.

And that is, a certain line from The Lost Hero, which I have conveniently written down here again from the book. Also, not to mention the prophecy, WHICH FINALLY MAKES SENSE.
...And foes kubeba arms to the Doors of Death...”
[AQUI]

“Annabeth nodded. “Your Great Prophecy- what’s the last line?”
And foes kubeba arms to the Doors of Death.”
“Gaea has opened the Doors of Death.” Annabeth said. “She’s letting out the worst villains of the Underworld to fight us. Medea, Midas- there’ll be more, I’m sure. Maybe the line means that the Roman and Greek demigods will unite, and find the doors, and close them.”
“Or it could mean they fight each other at the doors of death,” Clarisse pointed out. “It doesn’t say we’ll cooperate.”
-The Lost Hero, Page 552

OH.MI.GAWDS.
Clarisse actually alisema something intelligent!- No, JUST KIDDING. But beyond that, SHE IS RIGHT.
Where else would Percy and Jason fight? What better way to subtly send this message? Foes kubeba arms to the doors of death... I am seriously under the impression that Percy/Jason/Greeks/Romans have an epic battle to the death at the Doors of Death.
Anyone else?

Beyond that, the sekunde part took the longest. SO MUCH READING. My eyes are like #_# from all the pages and websites I was on looking this up- but I have finally accomplished it.

In short, let me sum up the owl on the cover.
Athena- au Minerva- had a sacred animal- the owl. (Duh, might I add) But not just ANY owl, I’m talking her SUPER SPECIAL OWL that basically is seen around her all the time- the one on her symbols and the same one on her shoulder. This particular owl happens to have a name- why not? I would name him Kevin, but I don’t think the Greeks/Romans would agree. ANYWAYS. The owl’s name is Glaucus, which means “glowing eyes”, "glaring eyes" au even “bright-eyed”. HOLY -!
The owl on the cover. Also referred to as “the owl of Athena” au “the MARK OF ATHENA”. (OMG!) Are it’s eyes glowing? Unless I’m hallucinating, yes. Also, it’s mentioned in the garbled history (it’s very confusing, BTW) that Athena herself might have originally been this owl, before she was a Goddess [like I said, MAKES NO SENSE but whatever :D] and that Glaucus was her original form. Not that that makes any sense, but neither really does a full grown woman in armor sprouting out of people’s heads make any sense either.

Perhaps this is the answer we have been puzzling over for the cover? Could this be the new character to be released in September?

Before, I was absolutely in upendo with the idea of the new character being a daughter of Neptune [sadly I doubt it] but I am now thinking that the new character is Glaucus himself, just like Ella was a new character. Who knows.

As for what Athena wants Annabeth to “avenge” maybe that is where Nemesis is going to come in. Perhaps the “Mark of Athena” is Glaucus, and he is to lead Annabeth somewhere to find Nemesis where something happens blah blah blah...

For what Athena needs ‘avenging’ for? I haven’t the slightest clue :D

Hope my three hours of research has not been a total waste, CHEERIO!

*Counting down the days until it comes out. LESS THAN 90! AW YEAH!*

And the entire pile of textbooks sitting in my basement, THANK wewe SO MUCH.
This is Glaucus. SAY HELLO. Also, in Rick's sneak peek, on his slideshow, THIS OWL SHOWED UP LIKE THIS. Coincidence? I THINK NOT.
