Actually, it's not just a regular snake. It's a serpent - two serpents, actually, and I have reasons to believe they might onyesha up in The Heroes of Olympus.

I'm talking about Cadmus, founder of Thebes, and his wife Harmonia, daughter of Ares and Aphrodite. Before we start, let's have a look at their little family first:

I'm very sorry it's from Wikipedia. I couldn't find any other family trees :'(
I'm very sorry it's from Wikipedia. I couldn't find any other family trees :'(

So what made me think they'll be in the series? I'm feeling a bit lazy right now, so I'll make a short list.

1. Remember, HoO will include those plots that couldn't fit in PJO. Cadmus and Percy are similar in many ways. They are both descended from oceanic deities (as wewe can see, Cadmus is related to both Poseidon and Oceanus), and they both have terrible relationships with some gods, especially Ares. So if there's one hero that was planned for Percy but couldn't fit in, I'd say it's Cadmus.

2. Cadmus' sister Europa and daughter Semele were both Zeus' lovers. If Jason is related to Cadmus, do wewe think Zeus will try to save him from the lightning, for his lovers' sake?

3. As Hecate once alisema in her awesome articles, R.R may mix Greek, Roman and Egyptian mythologies in this series. And wewe guess what? Cadmus is related to all three of them. His great-grandmother Tethys was worshipped kwa both Greeks and Romans. His grandmother Lybia was daughter of an Egyptian king, and she was mentioned in both Greek and Roman mythologies too. Finally, his grandpa Nilius was the god of river Nile. Don't tell me wewe don't know where Nile is.

4. Before coming to Thebes, Cadmus had stopped in Thrace, and it was the Thracians who advised him to consult the Oracle of Delphi. And who do wewe think lives on Thrace? Jason's daddy Boreas!

5. Tethys, Cadmus' great-grandma, had grey wings on her forehead. No, I don't really think it has anything to do with Jason's ability to fly. Just throwing it out.

6. Finally, I'm talking about Harmonia, Cadmus' wife. First let's have a good look at Piper's outfit on TLH's official cover. Don't wewe think it's weird? From R.R's description in the sneak peek, I pictured her a little like Annabeth au Thalia, in jeans and a T-shirt, nothing like this! She looks like an Ancient Greek girl, even a goddess. And why in Hades' name is she wearing a necklace? Wasn't she trying not to attract attention?

Now tell me, have wewe ever heard about the vazi and mkufu of Harmonia? In the myth, Hephaestus got really mad at his wife, so he gave Harmonia a cursed vazi and a cursed mkufu on her wedding. This items gave the owner permanent youth and incredible beauty, but they also brought terrible misfortune. wewe can't imagine how many people it killed! So is Piper wearing the vazi and mkufu of Harmonia? I hope not!

 The mkufu of Harmonia
The mkufu of Harmonia

wewe might want to know what happened to Cadmus and Harmonia in the end. Well, this is what happened. Some of Cadmus' Marafiki were killed kwa a dragon near a creek, so he killed the beast in revenge. Unfortunately, that dragon was sacred to Ares, and it, together with Hephaestus' wedding gifts, brought him rotten luck. In the end, Cadmus got really tired of all of this, and he alisema if a dragon could mean so much to the gods, he would upendo to be one too. So the immortals transformed him and his wife into serpents.

The story about Cadmus and Harmonia ends there, au at least that's all I could find. So what happened after that? There are too many theories, and we can only guess. Maybe they died and went to Elysium. Maybe they became immortal. au maybe, just maybe, they are serving one of the Olympian gods.

 Hermes and his caduceus
Hermes and his caduceus
I have a silly and crazy idea about what happened. We have already met one couple of snakes in PJO: George and Martha from Hermes' caduceus. So what if George and Martha are Cadmus and Harmonia? And what if Jason and Piper are the snakes reincarnated?

And I also have some reasons to support this silly senseless theory.

- Hermes is the most likely god to appear in this book. We have a great deal of theories involving him. He's the god of trade. His caduceus can erase memories. Jason's golden sword can be his. Besides, why was he mentioned in The Red Pyramid? Why not Zeus, the most important of the gods, au Athena, who shared Thoth's domain? Why not any other god? Why exactly Hermes?

- There are many stories about the origin of the caduceus, and the one I like most is about the prophet Tiresias. It's a long and exciting story, but let's summarize it this way: Tiresias used his staff to kill a couple of serpents, one male and one female, and that staff later became Hermes' caduceus. The point is Tiresias lived in Thebes, where Cadmus and Harmonia did. Could those snakes be them?

- Percy can't talk to any wanyama except farasi and horse-like creatures. But he could talk to George and Martha. In addition, he didn't talk to them in the regular way, he heard their voiced inside his head, like he did with horses. Could it mean that George and Martha weren't normal snakes after all? That they and Percy were the same kind, children of the ocean?

- In PJO, George always alisema silly things, and Martha was the one to correct him. Sometimes she did sound like a goddess of harmony.

- Jason's name has a Greek origin and means "the healer". I know that names don't really matter, but isn't Hermes the god of medicine?

- According to Dylan and Coach Hedge, Jason, Leo and Piper were very powerful demigods. It's easy to understand why Leo is powerful, since his dad is Hephaestus. But what about Jason and Piper? I'm not saying that minor gods aren't powerful, but... well, wewe know what I mean.

OK, I guess that's enough for today. I know it's a very long article, but please read and tell me what wewe think. It will be a very long time until we meet each other again!
