In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Julie Plec had this to say about Rose dropping Klaus’ name in the final moments of episode 208:

I'm not trying to start an even bigger war here, au anything, between Delena and Stelena, au the two ships' fans, but I've noticed a lot of hateful maoni towards Stefan and Stelena.
