"OMG! OMG! OMG! Mom! I got selected for TDA! I got chose as the new camper!" I squealed to my mom and sister. "Is that the weird camp thing wewe signed up for like 6 months ago..." alisema my mom, not really listening. "Yeah." I said, a lil bit inpatiently. My sis, Anabella, au Bella, giggled. "I'm gonna miss you, Becca! You're going to camp? Can I come too?" "No, sorry, Bella..." I said, impatient. "It's only for teens." "Oh..." She sounded disappointed. "Okay..." "Don't worry."
I stood up and left the room.
(1 mwezi later)
"Mom! Mom! Mom! Let's go now!"
"Rebecca. For the last time, if we leave now, we'll be two hours early," she stated, an inpatient look on her face.
"Okay. Sorry, Mom. But I'm just so excited..."
She hugged me. "I know wewe are, honey, but some things have to wait!"
I sighed.
Bella walked in.
"Is Becca leaving yet?" She asked, curious but her voice was still so... lifeless, flat.
"No, Bella. I'm not leaving yet."
I gave her quick hug.
(2 hours later)
"Mom, now can we go?"
She smiled with amusement.
"Honey, I'm surprised. I can't believe you've been so patient. Especially for something like this."
"Um... thanks?" I didn't know what to say...
She laughed. "Go check your things, Becca."
"Sure." I left, and went to my bedrooom.
Though I didn't focus on my stuff, I was certainly thinking of TDA!
I wanted to meet all the campers- one in particular. I was thinking about him all the time. I guess I loved him... but how? Was I crazy for liking him?
I, Rebecca Amelia Kiyuri Chen, made myself a commitment.
Well, three, actually.
I would make as many Marafiki as possible.
I would not let anyone see that I was a dumbo.
And lastly, I would try to win. And try not to die.
Because if I did, I would never fulfill my wishes of my lifetime.
I would never go to university.
I would never have a child, au marry.
And most importantly, I would never see my family again.
