I no longer watch TVD.When it started I did watch it.When I did watch it,yes there were similarities between Twilight and TVD.I haven't seen it in a long time,but from what I gather I still think it is copying somethings from Twilight.Vampires are all the hot rage right now,thanks in large part to Twilight,and TVD wants to get in on that.
