She was certainly determined to become human at some point, so I feel like she may have done something like this eventually, but I think it was also her recklessness that played the part in her rushing into it the way she did. I don't usually like picking the "both" option when the question asks for "more" or "most", because I feel like it's a cop-out, but in this case I'm doing it because I actually feel like it was an even combination! XD

I thought this, along with pressure from Ursula's "boss salesmanship" (that's a quote from an old Youtube comment, haha).

Really, it wasn't recklessness on Ariel's part. Ariel was reeling from devastation and grief after King Triton abused her by ruining her collection and actively trying "to silence her." Then, of course, Ursula's coercion about "what she would be able to do" did the rest.

It was pretty emotionally driven but also a rare opportunity to get what she's always wanted.
