District 12:
She glanced at the clock that read 11:32 am and picked up her brown leather bag and put her long blonde hair in a gppony, pony tail, she opened the door and squinted her eyes at the blare of the sun. She closed the door behind her and her eyes adjusted and she made her way through town to the zaidi wooded part of her district and made it to the boundries voltage fence, Artemis picked up a pebble and tossed it at the wires and it just bounced through, a smirk spread across her face, the fence was never on. She slid through the fence and kept walking and making it to a rotted log and knelt down pulling out a bow and some arrows burried under the dead leaves.
She walked across a log gently and quietly with each step she took and craned her neck over to see a deer, she quietly stepped off the log and took aim about to shoot, " and what do wewe think your going to with that Arty!? " a familiar voice shouted startling her making her hit the mti inayofuata to the deer scaring it off deeper into the woods. Artemis turned around with an annoyed look " dammit Lucas! " she shouted. "Nice to see wewe too " Lucas alisema walking over infront of Artemis, " that was the first deer iv'e seen all mwaka and i was planning on selling it " Artemis said. Lucas picked up a rock " lets see if i can get wewe to forgive me " he threw a rock at a large kichaka infront of him and a flock of birds flew out into the air, Artemis pulled out another arrow and took aim bringing down a bird and lowered her bow smiling at Lucas who smiled back at her. Suddenly the sound of turbines were heard and the two looked up, Lucas grabbed Artemis and pulled her into the bushes hiding from the passing capital jet, if they were seen they'd be dead.
The long nyasi blew through the wind tickling her cheek as her and Lucas sat in a huge field, " it's sick really how the games work, they cry when their favourite dies and then get over it like it doesn't even matter...." Lucas alisema and Artemis sighed, " happy hero games and let the odds be ever in your favour " she mocked the way the capital people spoke. Lucas smiled and alisema " we could do it wewe know....take off live in the woods ", " they'd catch us " Artemis said. " Maybe not " he replied " we wouldn't make it 5 miles " she said, " i think we could " Lucas said, " oh really? and which way would wewe go?" Artemis said, Lucas pointed down to yards and yards of trees " that way no doubt ", " what about your sister? " Artemis said. " She could tag along " he said, Artemis laughed then sighed thinking about the reaping tomorrow, " how many names wewe have in there? " she asked, " forty - two " he replied. She had a worried expression on her face, Lucas looked at her. " Look what i got " he alisema pulling out a bun of bread, Artemis's eyes widened and she grabbed the mkate " no way! " she broke the mkate in half and smelled it " is this real!? ", " it better be it cost me a squirrel " Lucas alisema amused. Artemis handed Lucas one half and kept one for herself " Happy hero games " he alisema taking a bite, " and may the odds be ever in your favour " she alisema smiling and taking a bite for herself.
Lucas opened his wooden door to his house and closed it behind him to see his uncle who had his metal legs on and balanced himself with his cane looking at Jenna who had her hair in a french braid and wore a white dress juu with a skirt, upindo tucking it in. " Well don't wewe look pretty " Lucas alisema walking over to Jenna , " I have your clothes ready as well " his uncle said, Lucas sighed and went upstairs and looked on his kitanda to see black dress pants and a white dress shati with a tie, he looked at the outfit unamused, this was another reason why he hated the Hero games.
