Recently Instagram removed all spammy accounts from their sites and in doing so they changed the number of followers some people have. In some cases the change was huge!

For some celebrities they ended up losing millions of fake followers in what is being called the “Instagram Purge” or “Instagram Rapture.”

Justin Bieber lost the most followers, he went from 23.8 million to 20.3 million followers, losing a total of 3.5 million!

Ariana Grande lost 1.5 million, she now has 20.2 million followers. Selena Gomez went down to 18.1 million followers after she lost 1.1 million.

Justin had ranked number one as Instagram’s most followed person, but now that title goes to Kim Kardashian with 22.2 million followers and that is after she lost 1.3 million!

In the end the New York Times has reported that the total fake users purged from Instagram was 18.9 million!
