Bella is a "good girl"? theres no sex, boys like it too??? these people are deluded!!
Yeah Bella doesn't do stupid crap like other teens, but thats because she has no life! her world is constantly revolved around being a loner, and Edward. There is sex in the 4th book and from what I heard it was really graphic. and probably the boys that love it are Gay. C;mon world
Coz my parents would totally flip out if they ever read Twilight.
I think they watch too many Saw movies. x]
I apologise for my navieness.
"Once they are, they will LOVE the Twilight saga!" This annoys me. For a start, why would you read it to a five-year-old? How would a five year old understand about sex and chagrin...oh my God. But how do they know their children will even like Twilight? Maybe they'll grow up to like classic literature, or be awesome Potterheads, or like something completely different.
Bella cares about people? No. The only person she cares about is Edward. When people like Mike or Eric or whatever tried to be nice to her and make her feel welcome, she brushed them off comparing them to "dogs", and she left her whole family and "friends" for Edward. She's horrible to her dad, as well. She is obedient? Right, that's probably why she ran off to Italy with a gang of vampires. She's hardly kind to her "friends" when she left Jessica terrified when she went off to talk to a group of scary men with bikes? Right.
"Your kid might fall head over heels with a fictional character! But that might not be a bad thing!"...Uhm. What? Yes, yes it IS.
It is very possible to like classic literature AND Twilight.. It's also possible to like Harry Potter AND Twilight, which should be known to all by now.
Bella has never expressed hatred to Mike or Eric. She was kind to them. All she did was deny their romantic gestures. Unless you want her to be a slut or a Ginny, then turning down a date or a dance invite is fine.
I always figured the dog remark was a metaphore, since Jacob turned out to be a literal dog. Bella had a similar relationship with Jacob as with Mike and Eric, but not as intense. Mike was a dog like Jacob, but not as intense of a dog. It never seemed like an insult to me, unless comming from a vampire. Edward didn't like mike, but not as intense as the vampires didn't like the wolves.
Not everything you do should be for your friends and family. Sometimes you need to do something for yourself.
And no, there's nothing wrong with falling for a character.
Every guy in my 6th grade class liked Twilight. They used to split themselves up in dodgeball teams using Twilight teams. I would have been pissed if it wasn't totally funny.
By the way, I know you can like classic literature/Harry Potter/anything, as well as Twilight. I was trying to point out that the child may favour them, or prefer them, or just generally like these other books and dislike Twilight. Their parents shouldn't presume to know what they will or will not like.
I really, really don't see how Ginny is a slut. She went out with about three boys - Dean Thomas, Michael Corner, and Harry, whom she married - during her teenage years. Teenage girls will have boyfriends, and I think three is quite a small amount of relationships to have, especially for a teenager. She was never seen to be openly affectionate with any of them either, except Harry of course, whom she was truly in love with for years. She went to the Yule Ball with Neville Longbottom because he was her friend and, unlike Bella, she didn't consider herself to be above him. I actually find Ginny to be quite a kind girl. She is talented in her later career, a good mother, and frequently hangs around with Luna Lovegood and Neville Longbottom, who are both considered outcasts in their own way at first, before they are truly appreciated. I hardly think Bella would even give them a second glance.
I also don't see how Bella was ever kind to Mike, Eric, Tyler etc... Making the remark that someone was "like a dog" when they were trying to welcome you and show you to your classes will never be kind. It sounds increasingly arrogant. She turned down their invitations etc. in quite a rude manner, too. She joked about Mike with Edward, which was very unkind, and even got annoyed when Tyler apologized for hitting her with his van, which was kind of her fault anyway? Yes, right, would you have preferred him to be an arrogant idiot like Edward and walk on by without so much as a backward glance when you're lying in a hospital bed in a neck brace?
Loving fictional characters isn't bad, no. I personally love pretty much everyone from Harry Potter - I frequently wish that characters such as Luna, Neville, Lupin, Hagrid, Ron, Harry, Hermione, Fred and George etc., were real. Being "head over heels", which to me signifies obsession, is wrong. When you're bored or annoyed or feeling empty it is so easy to slip into a wonderful fantasy world and these characters become real to you. It is not right to have them take over your real life entirely, like girls who turn down boys because they don't sparkle or something.
Maybe some moms didn't have the sex talk or something like that if they would flip out if you read the book.
and i-am-mariella she was simply standing next to her truck , she wasn't walking.
