An alarm. Two alarms. Alarms in every direction. Where were they? None of them were conscious enough to know. There was a sudden shift in gravity, and almost all of them came in contact with something hard.
“Sir, we’ve just lost-“ began a voice barely audible in Menae’s ears. “We’ve just Lost our gravity maintainence. We can’t seem to recover from it. Without it-“
There was sound of thunder, and a thud from something very heavy and very dead afterward.
“Do not tell me something I do not already know,” spoke a familiar voice: Whitman. “The airship will crash, and all most of us will die. Don’t let that truth stop wewe from doing what wewe know best, ladies and gentlemen,” he spoke to his subjects.
They worked furiously to fix something they knew had no solution. What was the cause? There were some patients that were missing which were previously injected with the Mentaphage, but those patients would be too weak to do much of anything. Besides, they would be succumbed to the will of Whitman.
“Sir, we seem to have miscalculated the dosage of the Mentaphage serum in the first patients that were injected,” spoke the assistant of the doctor who had handed the reports to the leading doctor. “We fear that the effects are zaidi severe, and the Mentaphage will no longer respond to your command. It may have consumed most of their free will, and can make them go feral. We nee-“
Another sound of thunder, and another sickening, wet thud.
“Get these two out of my sight,” he commanded.
There was an electrical out surge, and the lights went out. The workers began to panic, and Whitman shot bullets into the ceiling to give the workers a real excuse to be scared.
After reloading his weapon, Whitman spoke aloud saying “I thought I had told all of wewe to keep doing what wewe were meant to do. Panicing was not one of the requirements of either of your job descriptions. Most of us will die, but I will not have any of my crew die begging for their lives from some inexistent entity. Those who survive will-“
“Sir, ou-“
Another small explosion, and yet another thud. This one sounded wet.
“Can wewe not see that I am clearly speaking!?” he shouted enraged. Afterward, he formally cleared his throat, and continued with “Those who survive will-“
Yet another alarm sounded. But this one sounded all above the others with ear piercing screeching, and bore the grimmest message: nuclear meltdown.
“Why was I not informed of the nuclear meltdown? Who was responsible for telling me!?” he shouted.
“The worker wewe just killed: my best friend was going to tell you… but…” alisema a worker, almost as if he was mourning his death.
“Then I suppose wewe can meet up with him in hell, don’t wewe think?” Whitman remarked coldly.
Another explosion. However, this one sounded nothing like a gunshot. This explosion was large, and sent the airship into a tailspin.
Panic filled the air. Whitman would have calmed down his workers, but his gun was knocked out of his hand kwa someone. This person wasn’t a worker; at least it didn’t sound like a worker, being too feral sounding. With growls and shrieks of rage, several feral monsters began doing something Menae couldn’t describe, being that she was only going kwa sound, apart from the annoying voice prodding at her mind. Screams of pain came from the very Whitman himself, along with ripping sounds that could only be imitated kwa the action: ripping of limbs and flesh. And with that, the airship was Lost to the serum…
Another hard shift of gravity, and everyone was knocked off their feet au off their bed. The ship must’ve finally crashed. After several rolls, mostly everyone had fallen out of a hole made in the ship from the crash. These holes were scattered all around the ship. The radiation had spread throughout most of the ship, making the ship itself unable to sustain any kind of life. Menae, Gatage, Sanae, Noctus, Cooro, Tenemae and Cadaveo all lied on a plain along with several other bodies speckled around the floor.
The floor shook with a rhythm, giving undeniable evidence that the airship was meant for zaidi that just to test the Mentaphage on subjects. Noctus’ nightmares would soon come back to haunt him once more…
