The kiss we were all waiting for
The kiss we were all waiting for
In the decades since televisheni shows invaded the subconscious of the average American viewer, there have been hundreds of thousands of TV couples. Lucy and Desi. Captain Nelson and Jeannie. Ross and Rachel. There are great romances, there are disasterous romances, and the most addictive of all...the "will they/won't they" romances. It's one of the classic hooks of televisheni shows; two people who seem destined to be together, but can never quite make it work. So, what makes the relationship between fictional characters Pam and Jim on The Office, different from all those other relationships? To understand the lure of the Pam and Jim romance, wewe must start at the beginning. Not just at the beginning of the show, but at the beginning of Pam and Jim's relationship. If wewe are a dedicated Office viewer, wewe will refer to them simply as JAM...an affectionate nickname developed through Internet chat rooms and blogs.

Jim is a salesman at Dunder-Mifflin, a paper supply company located in Scranton, Pennsylvania. He has worked there for over five years and, despite maoni that he would have to throw himself in front of train if this became his career, continues to resist opportunities to change jobs. One reason for this may be the relaxed work atmosphere, but most likely it is his unwillingness to leave his best friend and unrequited true love, Pam. Pam is the soft-spoken receptionist at Dunder-Mifflin, who, when we first meet her, is enduring a three mwaka engagement with no end in sight. Her fiancée, Roy Anderson, works at the Dunder-Mifflin warehouse, and prefers to hang out with his co-workers au his idiot brother than bother setting a wedding date. The extended engagement is a point of contention for Pam, but she finds solace in her friendship with Jim, whom she regards as a "big brother."

She and Jim busy their siku kwa playing games and pulling pranks on co-workers. Unlike the insensitive Roy, Jim is caring, understanding and goofy. He's the guy everybody likes and who makes Marafiki easily, but he is unable to admit his true feelings. One of the most heartbreaking moments of the onyesha is when, out of the blue, Roy sets a tarehe for his and Pam's wedding. The look on Jim's face as Pam embraces her fiancée is devastating, especially since he was just sekunde from confessing his feelings to Pam. From that moment on, as Pam happily plans her wedding (without Roy's help), Jim puts into motion his own plans, which include distancing himself from Pam once she is married. He vitabu a impromptu vacation for the same time as the wedding so he won't have to attend and he looks into transferring from Scranton to Stamford, Connecticut. Meanwhile, Pam continues to let herself be walked over kwa Roy, who denies her the opportunity to take an art course. Jim is forced to stand by, unable to convince Pam to take a chance and go for her dreams. This frustration finally breaks, and Jim confesses to Pam that he loves her. This admission is a shock to Pam, but when Jim kisses her, she kisses him back. However, Pam tells him she is still going to marry Roy and a heartbroken Jim leaves.

After his admission and subsequent rejection kwa Pam, Jim transfers to the Stamford office and tries to get on with his life. In a surprising move, Pam calls off her wedding, but doesn't contact Jim. While Jim learns of this from a third party, he is still too hurt to return to Scranton. Pam goes on with her life, missing Jim, and Jim goes on with his life, missing Pam. Eventually, the two connect again over the phone and they joke around like old times. This small reunion gives us all hopes for the future of JAM. Then the office where Jim works is downsized and he is transferred back to Scranton, and back to Pam. What should be a joyous reunion between two best Marafiki is marred kwa the fact that Jim is now dating his fellow Stamford co-worker, Karen Filippelli. In effect, Jim and Pam switch places, with Pam know forced to sit back and watch the man she likes in a relationship with another woman. It is evident that Jim is still hurt from Pam's rejecting, as they no longer chat easily and there is always awkwardness between them.

Despite the loss of his best bud, Karen and Jim seem happy together, and Karen is even able to songesha past the fact that Jim still has feelings for Pam. Everything seems to be going well for Jim, especially when he is up for a corporate position at the New York office. Before Pam knows about the job offer, she shows off the strength she has gained since calling off her wedding, and tells Jim how she feels. She admits that he is the reason she called off her wedding and that she misses his friendship. Jim acknowledges this and tells her they will always be friends. On this note, Jim heads to New York for his interview. It is at this interview, that Jim finds a note from Pam saying "Don't forget us when you're famous." When he is asked kwa the interviewer, "Where do wewe see yourself in ten years?" his thoughts immediately go to Pam. The inayofuata we know, Jim is back in Scranton and asking Pam to dinner. Pam accepts the invitation and we are left anxiously awaiting the inayofuata season to see if jam, jamu can charm us as a couple, as much as they did as best friends.

The Pam and Jim story is different from other TV romances in the fact that it is believable. It's understandable how someone could spend everyday with a person and develop feelings for them. And, Jim is such a sweetheart; wewe can't help but upendo him and want Pam to upendo him too. While many Office mashabiki are speculating across the Internet about what inayofuata season holds for this adorable couple, it is evident in every look and word spoken between Pam and Jim that this is the kind of upendo everyone looks for. We can only hope that jam, jamu will be looked back on as one of the great romances of this decade.
Will Pam and Jim ever be the same again?
