One thing I loved about Hercules and Emperor's New Groove were the modern day references and how well the jokes and references were set up. I used to like the Shrek movies for doing this but those movies were more in your face about it compared to Hercules and ENG

That depends. If it's handled well, like it was in Aladdin, Hercules, and The Emperor's New Groove ( not taking itself too seriously, while not being blatantly offensive like Frozen was, or annoyingly cliche like Moana got at certain intervals )--- then I don't mind the occasional sprinkling of modern references here and there.

I don't think that would work well.

Only if it's handled well/done in a humorous way.

It's distracting and it ages the movie. Besides, Aladdin already did it.

they almost never age well - new groove pulls it off, but the nonstop references to 90s stuff in hercules and aladdin make them nearly unwatchable.

^Maybe it's because I'm a 90s kid or maybe I've watched the movie so many times but I never really noticed the 90s references :P I feel like I gotta watch the movie again and pay close attention

In my country pop culture references are considered to be lazy, cheap and stupid much like the people who enjoy such humor.

^^ i grew up in the 90s too, and the pop culture gags are always really obvious to me. and a lot of it is modern stuff that isn't even current anymore which makes them extra dated.

^Then maybe it's just because I've seen the movie too many times to notice it. In A Goofy Movie it's more noticeable but with Aladdin and Hercules I can't really see too much 90s stuff
