do u count Avatar as an anime...?

the reason i'm asking is because i do....mostly because it's the only good american anime....but there's a big debate about whether it should count au not because of the fact tht it's american...and i wanna kno ur thoughts on the debate.

Like everyone has said, the word Anime, means Japanese cartoons (and CG animation) Although Avatar is a so called American cartoon,, only the writers are American, the reason it resembles the Japanese style so well is because the uhuishaji was done kwa Korean artists , just so wewe know :D

I don't.

I don't call shows made in America Anime.

-EDIT-

The definition of anime means Cartoon in Japanese. If it's Japanese, then it should stay that way.

Oh my god! It's NOT an anime! anime is JAPANESE!
The definition of anime is: "Anime are Japanese cartoons and computer animation"
just because some American cartoons look kind of like anime doesn't mean we automatically stick the "anime" label on them.
The people who made Avatar DIDN'T try and make it anime. They fully thought of it as American. Let's keep it that way.

in my personal lexicon (ignoring the literal translation of the word anime), anime is strictly from Japan. but i might call something that is inspired kwa Japanese uhuishaji like this "American anime" loosely anyways, with the understanding i don't consider it "true anime".

i am getting used to the idea of calling an american comic book that used done Japanese manga style manga though (the nyota Trek manga comes to mind). so some siku i might get used to the idea of American uhuishaji done in a Japanese style anime.

anime is made in Japanese and dubbed into english and other languages, however Avatar The Last Airbender is made in America and while the art is similar to anime it isn't one and I highly doubt the creators wanted to make it that way,the fact is while the art similar anime is made in Japan and Avatar is not,so it isn't.

wha

of course it is. anime is just another word for animation. as an example, I was watching MLP:FiM on a Japanese site to see what they thought of it. it was tagged as 'anime' and 'overseas anime.' any cartoon is technically an anime. yes, the common English use is as a Japanese cartoon, but I really don't like it when people rule out every cartoon from ever being called an anime, because all those "stupid non-anime American shows" are called anime in Japan, just like a lot of people will call Japanese animations cartoons. they are the same thing okay.

SAME
THING.

I think the same thing about manga and comics.
