Ok, well I'm going to be perfectly respectful in this makala because I don't want to make anyone mad, I just want to make a point. If wewe agree au disagree with it, that's up to you. Please don't be rude inthe maoni section, and give reasons for opinions. Thanks!

Now I can start. May I just start kwa saying that I am on the Harry Potter side (with all due respect to Twilight fans)

I've noticed that one of the things Twilight mashabiki say is that Bella is a zaidi relatable character than Harry. I think that that is a good point because technically, wewe can be a normal teenager who goes to school and has Marafiki and a boyfriend, but it isn't possible to go to Hogwarts and learn wizardry. However, that doesn't make sense because both series use ndoto as a genre. Harry Potter is just set in it's own ndoto place, while Twilight is set in an actual city. So people are able to think that it is zaidi relatable, but it in fact isn't.

Another thing that can affect your opinion on "relatability" is the fact that Twilight is written in first person, so wewe are put in that perspective that wewe are Bella, therefore, thinking that it is zaidi relatable. In Harry Potter, the makala isn't written in first, person, so wewe don't feel as attached to the main character as wewe do when wewe read Twilight.

It is perfectly normal to feel that way, but it is important to dig a little deeper and to remember that wewe can't always relate to the main character, because Harry isn't always a relatable character, and neither is Bella (mostly). I like the fact that JK Rowling went furthur to describe zaidi than just 3 main characters in her books. What I mean to say is that if wewe can't relate to Bella (the maarufu new girl who many guys fancy and has the perfect boyfriend), au Edward au Jacob(I doubt many guys read Twilight, since it is aimed at young women and late teens), then there really isn't anyone else wewe can relate to within the books. Who do wewe think there is to relate to? Jessica? Other than her relationship with Mike, and briefly going to the sinema with Bella, we don't know much about her since the story is mainly based on Bella's relationship with Edward.

On the other hand, in Harry Potter, being almost anyone within the hierachy at school, wewe can relate to them in Harry Potter. wewe could be a loner, and relate to Neville. wewe could be a weirdo and relate to Luna. wewe could be a nerd and relate to Hermione. wewe could be a jock, and relate to the Quidditch players. wewe could the class clown and relate to Fred and George. wewe could be misunderstood and relate to Draco. wewe could be a follower and even relate to Crabbe and Goyle! The orodha goes on.

To say that Twilight is zaidi relatable is not necessarily true, because relatability isn't always based on realisticness, and does not always refer to the main character. I'm just saying that I can find zaidi people to relate to in Harry Potter than Twilight. Again, it's just an opinion, and I don't mean to offend anyone.

avrilsmylife what you saying is true but i think people can relate to Bella because of the difficuties she has in her lfe if you minus the fantsy vampire wearwolf thing. also Bella isnt the popualr girl in school, the reason people fuss about her is that she is new thats all in her old school she didnt really have any friends. and btw twilight wasnt actually amied for young girls it was aimed for late teens alduts. just saying. xx

bri-marie I don't think you can generalize relateabilty. Each person is going to relate (or not relate) to each aspect of a character differently, and for different reasons. Also, characters don't have to have a large part, or be completely developed in order for someone to feel like they relate to them. There is always, [i]always[/i] more to characters than meets the eye, whether the author be J.R.R. Tolkien or Doctor Seuss writing them. Let's take Jessica (since you mentioned her in your article). Jessica is the girl who's always [i]just[/i] outside the spotlight. She is, (for this purpose) the Ron Weasley of Twilight. Always just outside the radar. And, the one time she gets her moment to shine, is during the graduation ceremony when she's valedictorian. (If you've ever been to a graduation ceremony, you'd know that, short of the valedictorian's parents, not very many people really listen to their speech.) And some people can relate to that.

In fact, you can't possible relate to Twilight because there are more characters in Harry Potter" Which doesn't even make any sense. No fictional character (or even a real life character) can be factually more relateable than any other character (or person). You can not justly tell a person that they do or do not relate to Bella, Jacob, Ron, Harry, or any character. I don't know why you said people can relate to Harry Potter secondary characters and not any Twilight secondary characters. you didn't give any explanation to that. You said people can relate to Neville and Luna because they have a personality trait, but Twilight secondary characters have traits to, do they not? Isn't Alice bubbly and enthusiastic? Isn't Jasper really standoffish and constrained? Isn't Emmett a jokester?

vampiressJazz Just leave her alone guys, she wrote a good article with actual English and good grammar unlike a lot of people here. Her argument was fairly strong and that's all that mattered. Stop trying to find tiny things to fault get on its not that important.

youknowit101 Lmao, that coming from the person who said "^ she's just another shallow twihard making things up.... I agree that it's not right to tell people they were only tricked into relating to a character. She just doesn't have the right.

cassie-1-2-3 Articles with depth have been done plenty of times. Not to challenge the intellectual superiority of this article, but many of them go a lot deeper that this one.

I agree with what Cassie first said....that you're basically saying "Hey, I can understand why some of you Twilight fans were tricked into believing you can relate to Bella, but you're just wrong, but it's to be expected." I think this article is well written, but I think it's thoroughly biased from the Harry Potter perspective. I mean, you mainly talk just about how Harry Potter is more relatable, and seem to imply that people [i]can't[/i] relate to Twilight. Also, the fact that Twilight is set in areal city I think DOES play a part in the relatability. Like someone could relate to Bella because she hates living in rainy Forks, and they hate living in a rainy area too....just for an example.....Not to mention that you described Bella wrong.... Also, there are plenty of other relatable Twilight characters that you didn't really mention. Like: [b]Edward[/b]-A guy who likes a girl who he thinks is too good for him while struggling with his own issues, in his case being a vampire who's in love with a human. [b]Jacob[/b]-A guy who likes a girl who's one of his best friends but is in love with someone else. Also struggling with issues, in his case being a werewolf. [b]Rosalie[/b]-She's beautiful and her family is rich, but what she really wants is to just be human, so like basically a girl whose life seems perfect but is bitter about the cards she's been dealt and is secretly envious of everyone else. [b]et cetera.....those are just a few![/b] And besides, Jessica ISN'T a main character...she's a supporting one....Of course things probably aren't going to be about her as much. The main cast is definitely the Cullens and Bella....THEY get a lot of backstory and character development, which you also didn't mention. To put it your way, you could be a doctor or medical student and relate to Carlisle. You could be a cheerful joker like Emmett. You could be a loving mother or older sibling like Esme.

DirtyDiva ^I disagree with you. I think the author of this article made a good point but what she said was from her own perspective. And she labled it as an opinion. And I don't think she thought someone could relate to the cullens much because they aren't focused on idividually that much. Sure, they get their moments to speak to Bella, but we don't get to see how they grow past that. We got the back story, but we don't see how they function and live with that.

graystone I think the writer did an excellent job indeed in laying out the facts. Twilight is mainly centered around Edward and Bella. So,I think the readers never get a chance to know about those supporting charecters like Angela and Jessica. I personally feel that in Harry Potter every character is well-etched and defined. And we feel like we know a lot of them. If I were asked to pick one of the characters whom I can relate to, it would be without a doubt Luna.

ClaireVoyant I can relate better to Hermione and Luna than Harry. in twilight, the closest character that I can relate to maybe, only Angela..

(^^;) I think in twilight the character that didn't get explored actually have a lot potential because of their 'ordinary' quality. one of the reason I can relate to Angela was just because of the background explanation and not exactly the character itself when they actually act.

hpotterforever7 ^That's what I thought. In Twilight, the characters are considered normal, but if we were given more information on them on a daily basis, and their actions, it would help a lot.

cassie-1-2-3 I suppose if I were to relate to a Harry potter character, it would be Neville, a little, only less abrasive and awkward, and not really teased nearly as much, or as troublesome or prone to misfortune.

Sallymagi In Harry Potter I could probably relate to a mix between Ron, Neville and Hermione .. In Twilight, perhaps Carlisle.. But I think the reason why the Harry Potter characters are a bit more relateable, is that there are triple as many as in Twilight. And Harry Potter isn't only just about Harry, but all the characters are telling their own story! - I'm not saying that the characters in Twilight doesn't tell their own story, just that the story doesn't last that long.

cunha27 I agree totally with goodtimes. The title of the article is "Is Bella more relatable than Harry?". Where are the arguments for and against Bella or Harry being more relatable other than what person the writer has written in, "I am on the Harry Potter side" and "Harry isn't always a relatable character, and neither is Bella (mostly)". I read a lot of superfluous points about the relatability of secondary characters, but as none of them are Harry or Bella, I just disregarded it. Perhaps the title should be "Are Twilight characters more relatable than Harry Potter characters?"

I can't relate to either harry or bella. at first I thought that because I never been bullied like him. but both harry and luna has experienced being bullied by others and yet I feel closest to luna than him. I don't know why it's just is. and Bella, Hhhh... I've always been told to never trying so hard to pleases people who dislike me no matter if they are popular or whatever. that's why I really hate it when she bite her lips and wishing that rosalie didn't hate her. and there are many things that make me wanna scream "FUCK THIS SHIT! YOU DON'T NEED ARROGANT PIECE OF SHIT LIKE THEM"

cunha27 ^ Me neither. However overall it is easier for me relate to Bella than Harry. With Harry: I'm not a white British boy and neither are any of my friends, I'm not/never been/ don't know anyone famous, I don't have/never had/don't know anyone with magical powers, I'm not and to my knowledge none of my friends are orphans, I have a loving supportive family so never been ill treated by any of them, never had to end a relationship with someone I cared for their protection, never had a whole community depend on me to save their world, I'm not/never been and none of my friends are wealthy, I don't/never had a homicidal maniac trying to kill me nor do I know anyone who has, have never witnessed anyone I knew get murdered and don't know anyone who has, never had high school friends who were willing to risk their lives as well as school expulsion just to follow my hunches, I've never had/don't know anyone with a powerful person as a mentor, never been/don't know anyone who's been forced to keep a major part of their life a secret from the real world, never was one to talk back to a teacher no matter how detestable they were, never attended a co-ed magical boarding school, never had/don't know anyone my age who's had to fight in a war, never been persecuted, etc... I'm sure there's loads more but I'll stop here. With Bella: I'm not white or American but I'm a girl and 4 of my friends are white American girls, my parents aren't divorced but I have friends whose parents are, I'm not clumsy and I'm good at sports but my sister isn't and she's very clumsy, never been obsessed by a boy but have met a couple of girls who have (and yes, I felt like slapping some sense into them...repeatedly), never met/don't know anyone who's met any vampires and I don't care how cute they were, I'd have freaked out a lot more than Bella did once I found out I attended school with a coven of vampires. I've never had all the guys at school wanting to go out with me but I have a friend who did have/still does. I've never been in a relationship with someone who had to stop himself from eating me, nor would I ever get into such a relationship no matter the attraction. I can relate to moving schools, to moving from a large town to a small town (and hating it), I've had someone I saw as a friend want more from our relationship than I did. I have never fallen in love so deeply as quickly as Bella, and probably never will, but I am deeply in love with my partner and if our relationship were to end I'd get very depressed. I'd never marry so early, but I have friends who have. I've never met any shape shifters, never been pregnant or married. Basically I can't relate to Bella at all in Breaking Dawn, but there are bits of Bella in the other books that I can relate to, either because I've gone through something similar or because I know of people who have. All this being said, in the end even though I can relate to Bella more, I find that as a character I like Harry a lot more than Bella.
