(from Kowalski’s point of view)
It was a beautiful summer siku when a new found emotion took over leaving me helpless to ignore.
All the usual was happening, Private was watching T.V., Skipper was kusoma the paper while drinking his normal samaki coffee, and Rico was busy with his doll. How I hated that doll she always takes Rico’s attention away from….what am I thinking?! He’s my friend and nothing more! Still how long can I hide the fact that I upendo him? Though its better I do because two male penguins aren’t supposed to be mating only a male and a female are meant for that. I really cant explain these feelings and every once in a while I think about them. Then again science always has an answer! There’s got to be something to explain it….
(Rico’s point of view)
I wonder why Kowalski never sees me staring at him? Hinting that he’s the one I upendo is harder than it seems in those shows Private always watches. I guess he doesn’t feel the same way and I don’t blame him. Without him all I have is this doll, which means nothing it doesn’t have a heart, a brain au even a soul. Besides I always knew Kowalski didn’t upendo me he loves Doris but he should know she’ll never upendo him like I do. If only he loved me this doll would be engulfed in flames in two seconds, then again I do feel a certain connection with her…being in upendo is so hard.
(Mission 15:00 hours)(Kowalski’s point of view)
Another excruciating mission, but that’s not what makes it painful it’s the fact I am paired with Rico for this. Its not helping the situation but what can I do? So far I haven’t seen a sign of the red squirrel and I didn’t think I was going too since we haven’t heard from him since the Brock Rockgut incident then again I wasn’t looking for him I always found myself looking at Rico. I realized I can’t go on like this either I tell him now au suffer in silence for the rest of my existence.
“Rico?” I alisema surprised at how shaky I sounded.
“Huh?” he grunted tilting his head to the side letting his tongue hang over his beak.
“I…uh…have to…sorry I just don’t know how to say this the right way but…umm….”
Pathetic just plain pathetic! But before I can try again suddenly Rico rushed near me and wrapped me in a warm hug.
“What about your doll?”
He shrugged but I still could see a bit of guilt in his eyes.
“But Rico…also how did wewe know what I was going to say before?….” He just smiled which meant he felt the same way the whole time I was fearing rejection.
“Rico what about Skipper? And Private wont understand this either….”
He wrapped me in another warm hug queuing me to hush. After that only thing me and Rico had to worry about was Skipper something I’ll deal with maybe in a year…….or two.
Unfortunately two years is shorter than I thought.
“Where have wewe two been?!?! Don’t wewe know wewe were supposed to be back an saa ago!!” Skipper impenitently yelled.
I think I was the only one who flinched. Rico on the other hand was either looking at me au the doll.
I Lost my train of thought while Skipper continued ranting on. All I can do is think about the time me and Rico spent talking to each other on that mission. We cant be together like this. Its wrong mates are supposed to be female and male not male and male that’s what I have too tell myself. Still its hard to ignore those icy eyes full of wonder that Rico’s always looking at me with.
”Do wewe understand me?” Skipper suddenly said.
Kowalski, ”Affirmative……”
Rico, ”Uh huh!"
Skipper,” Good.”
At least he didn’t expect anything. I wonder how long I can keep this lie going....
