Note: The following is the first of three samples I will be posting here of my FanFiction.net uandishi project “A Skilene-Filled September.” In the project, I will write and publish one short story daily in the mwezi of September 2010 which will explain one possible way that Skipper and Marlene could get together for the first time. My personal uandishi style has always been to portray Skipper and Marlene as just really good Marafiki and to only “hint” at something more, but I have decided to exempt this project -- and only this project -- from that standard.

On FanFiction.net, a much longer outline of this project’s goals and background was ilitumwa ahead of the first actual story, but to avoid folks here from having to read through the whole doctrine, I have instead placed it at the end of this article. I would encourage wewe to read it if wewe want to so that wewe may better understand the project and my intentions therein.

Thank wewe for kusoma my brief note. The first Skilene scenario will now begin.

A Skilene-Filled September
Scenario 1: “Save the Last Dance for Me”
Wednesday, September 1, 2010

Marlene was taking a nighttime stroll through the zoo one evening when an odd display suddenly caught her attention. The peculiar sight was something she had never seen before, and not wanting to draw attention to the fact that she was observing, she stood off in the distance as she looked on bewildered.

“My, my, Skipper, I never knew wewe had it in you,” Marlene whispered to herself as she watched Skipper dancing back and fourth, appearing to shuffle to a beat that couldn’t be heard, as the lemurs, baboons, and other penguins surrounded him.

Then suddenly, Skipper shifted from grooving solo to some sort of strange routine with Julien, which involved Skipper seemingly using his talent to attack the lemur.

“A little violent for my taste,” Marlene then ametoa maoni as Skipper began spinning on his head and kicking Julien in the face with his feet, “but I’m still impressed.”

Not long after, Marlene watched whatever dance performance she had just seen come to an end. It was becoming late, so she thought it best to then return to her habitat for the night.

When she arrived, Marlene sat and thought about what she had seen for a short while. She was quite impressed at the degree of her friend’s hidden talent, and wanted to tell him how awestruck she had become kwa it. She smiled when she decided she would do just that the inayofuata morning, then got up to prepare to get ready for bed.

At around 11 a.m. the inayofuata morning, Marlene strolled over to the penguins’ HQ in hopes of talking to Skipper about his dancing skills. Upon arrival, she found him alone at the meza, jedwali stamping file folders with a big red “CLASSIFIED” stamp.

“Say, Skipper,” she alisema as she walked up to him, “I hope I’m not interrupting something important, but could I ask wewe about something?”

“No, wewe can’t ask what’s inside these folders,” Skipper replied.

“Um, yeah,” Marlene responded as she rolled her eyes. “Actually, I came to ask wewe about all that dancing wewe were doing last night. Why have wewe never–”

“You saw all that, Marlene?” Skipper inquired. “Well, first of all, it wasn’t the real me doing all that nonsense. wewe should know that I was temporarily the victim of some of Darla’s magic, though I would describe it zaidi as a curse.”

“Skipper, I know wewe believe in some pretty far-out conspiracies, but surely wewe must know that magic isn’t real,” Marlene responded.

“Is too!” Skipper declared. “Mad at Ring-tail, Darla used her witchcraft -- I mean magic -- to take away his groove, and it accidentally ended up inside of me until I used the skills to force Julien into apologizing to her so the ‘groove’ would songesha back into him. But I am happy to say that I’m now 100 percent cured of that nightmare.”

“Well, that’s a shame,” Marlene sighed. “I was going to compliment wewe on your talent. I was even thinking about asking wewe if wewe would– Oh, forget it.”

Skipper sensed that Marlene was quite disappointed, so he reached over and put a flipper on her back.

“Go ahead, Marlene,” he said. “You can still ask me what wewe wanted to.”

Marlene smiled a little, then nervously proceeded with her question.

“I … was wondering, … might wewe be willing … to dance with … me?” she asked.

“Wait, with me?” Skipper asked. “Just because wewe saw me dancing last night?”

“Well, that’s not the only reason,” Marlene answered. “I actually like wewe a little, too.”

Skipper was speechless.

“I’m sorry if I alisema something wrong,” Marlene apologized after a few moments went by. “I just–”

But before she could finish her sentence, Skipper pulled her kwa the paw to the middle of the room, smiled, and began to slowly dance a few steps with the otter.

“Is this anything like how wewe pictured it?” Skipper asked after they had danced for a minute.

“No, Skipper, it’s better than I could have ever imagined,” Marlene replied. “But what about the magic?”

“Who needs magic when I have you,” Skipper replied.

Thank wewe for kusoma the first of the 30 scenarios that will be part of my project. Two zaidi samples will be ilitumwa here on Fanpop; wewe may click link to access the inayofuata one. The 27 others will be only on FanFiction.net, but wewe can easily access the project there kwa clicking link.

For those who wanted to read the full outline and explanation of my project, here it is, the same way it is presented on FanFiction.net:

An important message on how to read the stories of this project:

For a while now, I have been a shabiki of the “Skilene” concept, which, of course, pairs together the characters of Skipper and Marlene. However, my personal style as a shabiki fiction writer has been to never write stories that directly set the two up together, and to instead portray Skipper and Marlene as really close Marafiki who upon occasion just “hint” at the possibility of something more. I have always done so for three principal reasons: first, to keep my uandishi zaidi in line with canon; second, to give readers the ability to draw their own conclusions; and third, in order to maintain a degree of “personal continuity” among all of my stories, ensuring that nothing I write conflicts with something else I’ve written. Consequently, no matter how much I may believe that Skipper loves Marlene, putting the words “I upendo you” in his mouth has never been an option for me. Until now.

No, I have not decided to abandon my precedented uandishi style; I still believe that Skilene must first have a strong friendship at its foundation. I have, however, decided to exempt this project from my self-imposed limitations on direct Skilene material and continuity. Here’s how this project will be run:

If wewe are a shabiki of Skilene, have wewe ever wondered just exactly how Skipper and Marlene would fall in love? Each siku during the mwezi of September 2010, I will write and publish one short story outlining one possibility of how the two could theoretically get together. In total, there will be 30 of these fictional scenarios in this project, but they will all be independent of each other and of any other thing I have ever written au ever will write. In other words, each story is just one idea of how Skipper and Marlene could have gotten together -- no one scenario is held to a greater au lesser level of truth au fictional validity. Unlike with my two drabble projects, there are no restrictions on the number of words I can use in each story, but they still must be written on the tarehe I present them as. (I may still think of ideas ahead of time, as long as I don’t write any of the actual stories beforehand.) I will also be publishing each story as an individual chapter and will, unless there are situations preventing me from doing so, publish a new chapter each siku for the 30 days of this project.

Spying is rude:
There was a Zookeeper named Alice,
Who came out of the bath quite towel-less.
The penguins did learn,
As their stomachs churned,
To Avoid the Alice when Towel-less!

Ticking off the Pen-goo-ins*:
Bowhole says "penguins" quite strange
But not becasue he's dearnged
This word he won't doff
Just to tick his foes off
But we all know that villian won't change

Man on the other side of the Radio:
The Zookeeper man number two,
Did not know what to do!
The man was quite sad,
For his screentime was bad,
His face was not there-Boohoo!

*Kowalksi informs us that Blowhole missprounounces the word just to tick them off in one of the promos to Operation:Blowhole
I had SOO much fun uandishi this chapter! I hope wewe have just as much fun kusoma it! maoni please!!!!

"Ugh," Kowalski instictively stretched out, before realizing he was no longer in a crate. He lay on a cold powdery substance. Snow? Kowalski put some in his mouth, then spit it out. It was Fake.

Standing up, he brushed of the flakes and looked around.
There was fake ice and snow covering the landscape,
with stone slabs set out in an area of salt water. If the snow wasn't real then...was this a habitat? Kowalski searched the perimeter for his mate,...

CHAPTER FOUR
~ Whatever It Takes ~

The inayofuata morning, before the zoo opened for business, Skipper, the other penguins, and Marlene gathered at Alice’s office to look at the newest edition of The New York Times, which Alice always had a copy of on juu of her desk. Since both the Central Park Zoo and the New York Times Building were located in Manhattan, Skipper figured that the envelope he and Kowalski had mailed out the morning before would have reached the newspaper that same day, thus in time for its contents to be published in that morning’s edition.

RATED PG-13.
Genre: mystery, suspense, romance, mild action
TDL's Note: I'm uandishi a new story. This one is rather dark. The first part is very short; it is only the prologue.

The air was filled with the scent of wet concrete. The moon shown down on the lifeless zoo, the only chanzo of light. Puddles covered the ground from the storm that passed through the city hours ago. An eerie silence swept over the exhibits.

Through the silence, faint footsteps moving from puddle to puddle were heard, getting louder and louder. He came from the shadows and out into the moonlight, and took a breath of...

Just a little drabble I wrote up, my theories as to why Blowhole is crazy and wants to flood the world and hates Skipper. This will probably be COMPLETELY different from what actually happened, but oh well. Just something to tide us all over until Febuary 15th.

Title sucks, I know, but it's the best I could come up with. :-/

I might write another story soon, too. If I haev the time. I wanna write a Skipper/Marlene/Blowhole story. Insane, I know. :P

And I believe I've officially become Blowhole's number-one fan. On this website, at least. ^^;

Oh, and the bit where he's beached and a bila mpangilio guy puts...

Everyone landed in different places around the rainforest.

Marlene and Icicle stood-up and began to tafuta for everyone else.

"Uggh! What's up with Skipper?" asked Marlene, "He keeps messing with me and thinks that he can boss me around! What's wrong with him?"

"Uhh, girl." Icicle alisema while fighting through the leaves, "Don't wewe think that Skipper does that to protect you?"

"Well, sometimes. But still...Yea, whatever." Marlene jumped over the root blocking her way. "Why can't he see that I can take care of myself? I don't want him to think of me as a weak, damsel in distress. I want to be more."...

Chapter Two

“Rico. Rico. Rico, wake up.” Rico heard his name being called repeatedly and fluttered his eyes open. The voice was so rich and sweet, he hoped it was who he thought it was.

“Marlene???” Rico whispered. His eyes were blurry and then they got into focus, making the shape of an angry penguin, auk and a slightly younger one to his side.

“RICO! Where are my magazines?” Skipper demanded. He didn’t hear Rico say Marlene at first.

“Marlene.” Rico sat up and wiped his eyes with his flippers. He looked around and found his doll. Her arm had came off when he had thrown her aside...

“I wonder what’s taking him so long,” Marlene mumbled to herself. She was sprawled out across her bed, staring up at the ceiling of her habitat, thinking about Skipper. She checked the clock, “it’s been almost an hour. I hope his team took it well.”

Marlene began to get anxious, not because she wanted to know what the other penguins thought of their relationship, but because she wanted to see Skipper again. Ever since the first time she laid eyes on the strapping penguin, auk she knew that there was something about him that attracted her to him. It could have been his sleek black and...

Note To Self,

It’s been nearly a month. I’m not sure what happened, but Skipper is in the worst shape of his life. Private and I have both made various attempts to talk to him, but he refuses to say a word. On another note, he won’t eat his fish, anymore. Private tells me that he somehow feels responsible. I somehow doubt it. But, with the way things are looking, who knows what’s wrong with Skipper? I only wish that he would tell me something. It wouldn’t even have to be about this situation. I simply need to know if he’s still sane.

Besides, he’s starting to frighten Private....

“What’s going on, Skippa?” Private appeared from behind the conversing crowd that had gathered near the fishbowl ladder. This cluster of wanyama now included the four penguins and Marlene, who appeared to have brought along some important news.

“We’ve received word that Alice and her coworkers are planning some sort of diabolical meeting at the Zoovenir.” Kowalski answered, instead. Marlene was quick to intervene, though.

“Whoa, whoa, whoa! I did not say anything about it being diabolical!” the otter claimed with her hands of her hips. She had only been there for probably 8 minutes...

This is really kind of for my benefit, so I can have a quick way to get to my ff's, but I put a brief description in case you're interested.

Although, I highly recommend wewe redirect to my FanFiction account to see revised and improved versions of these stories if wewe plan on kusoma them. Additionally, I have officially stopped posting my stories on fanpop as of June 30, 2017, so there are chapters, installments, and other stories that will not be here. Unable to sleep, Skipper pulled himself topside for some fresh air. He had that nightmare again, the same one he’d been having every night for a week. He hadn’t told anyone about it yet—partly because it was really disturbing him, and partly because he didn’t want anybody worrying about him.

He ran his flippers over his face and knelt kwa the pool to look at his reflection. He could tell that he was tired with the circles around his eyes. The team had seemed...
